I can only reiterate the three previous reviews regarding this hotel.
Like the other posters my Wife and I are seasoned travellers and have experienced all grades of hotels, from back packer types to luxurious 5 star, so I feel we are quite well qualified to assess this accommodation.
The food was dreadful, a set menu consisting of one meat and one fish main course, Don't know how a vegetarian would fare, and no sight of an A La Carte menu, which is stated on the website, in fact the staff confirmed that there has never been one?
The 24hr "room service", again stated on the website, did not exist, in fact when my Wife and I returned one night and decided to have a nightcap at the bar we were told by the night security guard that the bar always closes at 11pm, this was at 11:15 and we therefore had to go straight to our room. I did however decide to use the mini bar for a glass of baileys, and proceeded to open the two "miniatures" provided, only to be disappointed that they had almost solidified, close inspection of the bottles revealed a use by date of August 2009 !!!!! Only four years out of date !!
The location of the hotel is dreadful, a good 20 mins walk into Arrecife, which is where the locals live so nothing there to cater for any tourists. Don't get me wrong on this point as we didn't want a Blackpool type resort, however it is nice to have a varied choice of bars and restaurants to choose from. For this we travelled, approx. 25 mins by bus, in to Costa Teguise which was far better and somewhere we would return to. So in a nutshell, a 20 min walk followed by a 25 min bus ride to get to a good restaurant and bar.
As previously stated, the staff are very good and were constantly apologising for the standard of food, one saying that although the hotel had received a 5 star rating the restaurant had not been reviewed, so therefore had no rating!! So how they can offer any half or full board status is baffling.
Also, as stated in an earlier post, the pool was freezing cold and not heated as stated on the website, and the Jacuzzi was empty for the duration of our stay.
So a holiday which was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary was a very expensive disappointment.
A very isolated 3 star hotel charging 5 star prices, save your money and go elsewhere is our advice.

So many holiday problems begin when an hotel claims to have or is rated by some local quirk to have more stars than it should. Villa Vik, it is alleged, has been awarded 5 stars. In fact it would be comfortably graded as a good 3 star.

The tour companies conspire in a similar way, trying to fill their brochures with mouth watering locations. It's difficult to see through this mist.

We failed to see through the mist when arranging our holiday in Villa Vik.

Where to begin ?

The staff are excellent. Friendly , helpful , attentive , efficient. However, there is no on site manager to head off problems and to be proactive in avoiding situations. Hence all the staff can do is to react to them , by which time it is too late.

Housekeeping too is first class, with a level of cleanliness which we have rarely seen.

The location of the hotel is dreadful. Too far from anywhere really for a gentle stroll to a bar or restaurant and certainly not a stroll to be taken late at night ( we were strongly advised by the staff ) as it turns into a less than pleasant place, certainly at the Arricefe end of the promenade.

The food in the hotel is " OK country pub Sunday lunch ". Edible but WAY short of 5 star. You can see the chef trying but failing to impress. The low point was a small piece of fish served with a slice of strong cheese upon it, the two having been grilled to cardboard. As a main ? In what universe ?????

The rooms are spacious ( if you must come to the hotel at least take Room 202 with a big balcony, hot tub, distant sea view over unmade ground and south facing , or 201 which has similar features but north facing so no sun and much road noise ) and quite well equipped although the 3 rooms which we tried ( see later ! ) all had dangerous bathrooms, so easy to slip and fall.

The hotel is dreadfully noisy.

Our room was 202. When the wind blew an incessant load thumping would come from the roof ( 202 is top floor ). The wind blows quite a lot in Lanzarotte. So, night one - no sleep. We complained and the man fixed the problem - we were told. Night two, the same problem started at 2.30. Down we went to night porter , a young girl with a iPhone and no English. We explained the problem with the help of Google translate on the iPad and were offerred 204. Pokey but quiet we thought. So it was until 5.30 when our neighbours decided to have a row, and it was then we realised how poor the sound insulation is in the hotel. So, back to 202. The next morning, after what we thought was a justifiable rant, we were given the key to 201, just in case we needed to move again.

Hereafter, the hotel which was initially occupied by only three couples began to fill again illustrating how poorly the sound insulation was in the place. Frequently, lying in bed in the early hours we were able to hear neighbouring rooms talking or perhaps their tv.

In summary, seven nights here - seven nights of disturbed sleep. We are SOOOO looking forward to being home and getting some rest - the sort of rest we had paid over £2k to get.

Oh, and smoking. You know the lovely non smoking laws which came in recently ? The ones which supposedly protect diners from the smell of the dreadful weed ? Well, the staff don' t understand them. They allow smokers to sit on the other side of glass doors from the restaurant, the doors are poorly fitting, and the smoke travels through into the restaurant. We had a couple of fellow guests who would smoke, it smelled like the disposal of animal remains. We complained and they were asked to move, but the lack of a manager showed itself here again. Bad feeling also from these smokers.

So, in summary, for rest and good food, do not come to Villa Vik. For lovely staff and nice decor you will succeed, but only in the knowledge that you may be paying for 5 star, but you will only get 3.

Our suspicions that something was not quite right with this hotel when e mails were returned and phone calls went unanswered, should have alerted us to what we found when we arrived last Thursday afternoon. A slightly perplexed waitress in an apron with no English took our details, handing us someone else's paperwork by mistake then showing us to our room which had no view of the pool and gardens as we had been led to expect. There was no other room so we decided to make the best of it. We soon met the other eight guests who alerted us to the shortcomings of the hotel, but the weather was improving and we remained optimistic. As the week went on however things went from bad to worse. A meagre breakfast of stale cereal; requests for lunch only giving us store cupboard salads and the evening meal, a choice of only two mains which was frequently inedible.
Fruit in our room was never replenished and allowed to go mouldy and the sheets were unchanged.
The hotel is staffed by a number of part-timers, no doubt on very basic pay and there is no manager in overall charge. There appear to be at least three chefs who work on separate evenings so there is no communication between them. Our requests to avoid peppers and too much dairy were never passed on and somehow peppers and cream turned up in every meal. We were paying nearly 300 euros a day for our third rate experience and felt cheated and thoroughly exploited by management who care nothing for their hardworking staff or their guests. My advice is to stay well clear of this hotel until they at least employ one chef who can cook and a manager to oversee things; the minimum one would expect from a five star hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a good rep who can stand up for you and speak Spanish.

We booked this holiday wanting a luxury break before Christmas. We arrived and shown to our room or should we say (cave) we were in a ground floor room that was dark with no sea view! We had requested a first floor room with a view. We were told that the hotel was full. So we made the decision we would go with it!
The food was very disappointing! First night the sole we wanted there was only one portion left! My husband took the pollock I had sole, it was cold, and full of bones, breakfast was no better, the lack of choice was surprising! The cereal was very limited and poor quality. Hot food was eggs, fried sometimes scrambled and very crisp bacon! The eggs were always pre cooked and stacked in a covered hot plate! You couldn't find a soft egg even if you arrived before the 8.30 start! Not what we expected from a small 5 star hotel. For the size of hotel they could have easily cooked eggs to order! Dinner didn't improve! Still cold and poor quality produce. I did complain to the English chef after we had the worst meal! We wanted duck, they had run out, again! The alternative lamb chops. They arrived, cold with white uncooked fat, but even worse it was served with the orange/ cinnamon sauce, it was dreadful. I did tell the chef that the meal was awful, like every meal I had eaten! He was embarrassed quite rightly so! I must say that the temperature improved after the complaint. But the quality of food certainly didn't. The staff in the hotel were just amazing! But they were stretched, when the hotel was full, they had to serve at the bar and serve dinner! They did their best and all worked very hard! Nothing was too much trouble!
The pool was not heated as advertised, the jacuzzi empty throughout our 10 day stay, and the sun beds were so uncomfortable! The pads are thin and the beds old with splinters! Some with wonky wheels. The hotel is just not managed! There should be a manager their every day! We didn't see any managers during our stay! The hotel is isolated and if you don't hire a car a long walk into Arrecife. The hotel bikes were in demand and pretty old. Despite our negative comments we enjoyed our holiday! This hotel could be perfect but they are cutting corners, the quality of the food needs to be improved, and fresh produce used, more choice for breakfast and dinner! Our comments are meant to be constructive criticism! Janice & Peter Barnfather, Milton Keynes, bucks uk.

Room Tip: If you don't want a cave, go for the first floor rooms. The lightest cave was our room, number 1...

You don't need a view when you stay at a place like this! The staff, accomodations, food, etc. are excellent. From the moment I arrived until check out was very pleasant. I purchased a few bottles of wine that were available and manager offered to place them in my room as a convenience. They even accomodated us to eat on our veranda outside of our room (which I must admit is non-standard, however, we asked and they delivered). Our meal was impecable; not even a hint of a criticsm. Upon our early check out (0600) manager offered to prepare a fresh serving of coffee.

Rooms, pool area, bar area, restaurant, all is excellent. HIghly recommend this location.

Quiet and well appointed with attentive smiling staff who are friendly and helpful to a fault.
Pleasantly located only 12 mins walk ( or 5 on a bike provided by the hotel)to Arrecife, this attractively designed hotel occupies a convenient location, handy for the airport and close to some pleasant beaches.
The pool area with private sheltered lounging areas are a delight and there is an easy going feel to the whole hotel conducive for a relaxing holiday.
As a stressless winter venue it takes some beating....

My girlfriend and I spent a week here from the 29th September and it exceeded our expectations. From the time we arrived we immediatley started switching off and the hotel and service was A+. Every afternoon we went for a bike ride down the coast to Playa Honda which was 15 mins away and Carmen which was about 40 mins. I found the location great also for going for runs along the promenade and did this every morning. All the staff were fantastic including Daniel who couldnt have been any more helpful. We will definitley be returing for another visit !
