Looking for a last minute break from the British weather i came across Hotel Villa Vik after seeing the great reviews. I booked the hotel on the phone using the UK sales company which comes up on google. They did a better deal than booking direct and cheaper than all the last minute style sites. The Villa is only five minutes from the airport and the taxi worked out at ten euro including the tip, alot less than the recommended prebooking cab.The Villa itself is superb, spacious and clean. We wanted a relaxing and quiet few days and this is 'the' place to kick back. With only fourteen rooms you dont have to be up a six to get a sun bed by the pool, perfect. The pool in May wasnt heated and did take some getting into but also funny watching the other guests going for a dip! The four front of house staff could not have done more for us, doing everything possible to meet our needs. Dont forget its adults only aswell.
Ok, so the Hotel is five star, the staff are five star but, and here's the but, the food isnt. Sorry to say but the food was average quality and the menu more three star. You book your dinner table time each morning and the choice of food not great. Generally three startes, two mains (one meat dish / one fish dish), one main desert or fruit / icecream. Personally i dont eat most fish so that left me with one main and no choice. The wife also thought the menu very poor for this class of hotel. On Saturday for lunch the kitchen was closed and only a salad or sandwich (literraly just one sandwich on a plate) is simply not good enough especially as the Villa is aimed at people who want to stay round the pool and not do much. Breakfast is eggs and bacon along with the normal continental bit and bobs which was fine. Please please Vik Hotels....sort the food / menu.

Samll tip, if you want water, ask for a four and half litre bottle for your room, alot cheaper than the small bottles normally given. Oh, and no kettle in the bedroom. The bedroom was great, plenty of space, a sofa and nice bathroom, a little dark as some one else has mentioned but then the front door opens up onto the pool area, bliss.

As mentioned before this is not the hotel for you if you want 'lilos and sports bars'. Its in an area that is quiet and away from the tourists. Five minutes in a taxi to Arrecife (five euros with tip) and a lovely twenty minute walk along the promenade back.Arrecife has some nice shops and a good mix of food outlets and resturants including 'Lilium' which is well worth a visit. Play Honda is the other way and the walk is only ten minutes. Here there is a small shopping mall and some nice 'local' eateries, bowling alley and cinema (remember in Spanish though).

We went on a couple of 'last minute' excursions just to see the island a bit and thought they were very good. The Villa staff more than happy to book these for you.

To sum up, we had a truely great seven nights here, relaxed plenty, swam a little, met the lovely 'Ladies' (you know who you are :-)) and went for walks. Would we go again? Definately but next time we would go bed and breakfast and eat out. Thanks again to the staff.

Room Tip: Ours was 109 down stairs, twenty metres from the pool....perfect.

Location: If you want to be in a tourist hot spot then do not choose Villa Vik. It is set in a largely residential area with none of the trappings of a modern tourist resort (bars, restaurants, amusement centres, large hotels, tourist shops etc). We chose Villa Vik precisely for this reason. However, Arrecife (the island's capital) is 20 minutes walk; bars, restaurants, shops and beaches are only a short walk away and used more by residents than tourists. There is a lovely coastal promenade (300m from the Villa) which enables you to walk or cycle (the Villa provides complimentary bikes) to all these locations.

The Villa: We loved the Villa. It is small and charming. The staff are superb. The rooms comfortable and clean. Evening meals are waiter service only. Breakfast is help yourself with cooked breakfast to order. The quality of the food is very good though not excellent. We loved the local wines.

The pool has a small discrete notice which reads 'It is forbidden to reserve sun beds'. When I read this I knew we had chosen the right hotel for our holiday. We would return.

Period of stay 13 - 21 April 2013.

Just spent a great week at Villa Vik, we were not disappointed, the attention to detail is first class, the staff are all very friendly and cant do enough for you,as a previous guest stated ,the lunches are a bit below their standard and don't have a great choice. The hotel is extremely clean, the beds and towels are changed daily. We didn't get a car and travelled to Teguise the old capital by bus,its a 15 minute walk to get a bus which you then have to change for another one that takes 15 minutes. The hotel is a little bit isolated which is fine for us,however if you like to sample bars in the evening ,it would be a drive or a 20 minute walk. Its lovely walking on the promenade watch out for cyclists using the red zone. The 17th floor of the Grand Hotel(tall green block) is a great place to have a coffee or drink with great views.Be aware that a taxi ride to the hotel and back is approx 20e , we pre booked here and paid £52 return, there are lots of taxis outside the airport.I would choose 207 or 208 they are slightly past the pool and upstairs one floor. Many thanks to Villa Vik for making our stay most enjoyable.

Just spent 7 nights at this luxurious relaxing beautiful hotel, only 14 rooms and most days only about 4 people about. Breakfast are just what is needed evening meals could have slight more choice but cooked when ordered. Customer service is 1st class, the staff our amazing nothing is too much trouble for them there are only about 4 members of staff and are so polite, as one review states you are made to feel more of a house guest at this large villa home rather than a hotel. Pleasant walk along the prom to the town and fantastic that you are only 10 mins from the airport. We have never been to a hotel that is so clean and presented with a relaxed luxurious ambiance. The decor is stunning beautiful pieces of furniture. Will definately being staying there again, as now been very spoilt for that way of life.

Room Tip: An upstairs pool room for me was the best unless you are fortunate to be able to afford the super lu...

Hotel Villa Vik, Lanzarote

Once one of the super luxury Villas built along this southern Lanzarote coastline, this 14 bedroom “adults only” boutique hotel provides the ultimate in “chill-out” tranquillity with genuinely friendly and wonderful service in a modern attractive setting. When staying here you are made to feel more like valued house guests rather than mere hotel customers.

Extensive renovations took place in 2007 but many original features such as the unique walled in garden and swimming pool have been retained. All rooms are unique, comfortable and spacious. Ours had a sitting area (with settee, writing desk and television), dressing room, large bathroom and separate loo. My wife especially liked the full-sized roll topped bath. I appreciated the “proper” plugs to the bath and sinks that actually kept the water in! We were on the lower level with an outside sitting area in front of the pool. Rooms are kept spotless with faultless “house keeping”.

The dining rooms and other public areas are attractive with evidence of unique design elements and many original pieces of art work – indeed the upper floor corridors are art galleries in their own right!

Outside there are plenty of comfortable sun beds for everyone around the pool and thoughtfully, beach towels are provided each day. Refreshments are served outside when required. Cacti enthusiasts will be amazed at the wonderful varieties growing amongst the almost black volcanic rock and palm trees in this unique garden.

It should be noted that rooms on the ground floor tend to be somewhat dark, mainly due to the overhanging balcony to the rooms above. I suppose that this shade might well be welcome in mid-summer.

We were booked in for half- board (breakfast and dinner). Breakfasts were good with a wide choice, including cooked food. The bread supplied was superb. Dinners however were a little disappointing with fairly limited choice and, although adequate, certainly not up to “gourmet” standard which, compared to the 5 star quality of everything else, is a shame. There is however a good wine list and some very palatable local wines are available at moderate cost. Lunchtime light meals are available at reasonable prices and refreshments are served around the pool at any time if required.

The immediate area around the hotel is essentially residential and boasts some large exclusive private villas behind high walls. However, there is some evidence of Spain’s economic decline. A walk towards the sea takes you across a derelict building site where it is obvious that development has come to an abrupt halt.

This, mostly rocky, part of the coast has a fabulous paved promenade stretching from the capital Arrecife almost to the airport. This car free pathway is widely used by cyclists, joggers and walkers – Villa Vik is about 30 minutes’ walk from Arrecife. Some sandy beaches, small bars and restaurants are within walking distance in both directions.

In conclusion, if, like my wife and I, you want a short holiday to relax and be thoroughly spoiled in tranquil semi-tropical surroundings, then this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Probably best to ask for a room on the upper level since these are lighter and offer views of the se...

We have just got back from 5 nights at this most wonderful hotel. If you are looking for a luxurious, relaxing break with fantastic food and attentive staff this is the place. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed straight away and throughout the stay everything was made easy.
We were half board so there is minimal selection at lunchtime, but to be honest, it was nice to not over indulge on buffet food and feel like you can still stand up after eating.
I would recommend anyone to stay and thanks to all the staff, they are just brilliant.
