I have called into The Anchor on a few occasions and the most lasting impression is the "'grumpy women" that lurk, sorry work there! The head honcho is an Essex girl by ve sahnd of fings and her sidekick is indeterminable as I have only heard grunts emitting from this person. On a lighter note the establishment is well presented and clean. Food is a bit hit and miss but what holiday makers want, also a bit overpriced for what it actually is. I recall a visit where a rather charming French lady of more mature years had eaten lasagne and a dessert all with no problem. She then ordered coffee which obviously was not to her liking as she did not finish it. After waiting for a while the lady decided to approach the bar to settle her bill as Grumpy and Very Grumpy were engrossed in deeo conversation and did not have the time to go to her. The lady asked what she owed and paid. Not once was she asked if everything was to her satisfaction. Being a resolute person she spoke in perfect english and gave a compliment on the lasagne and dessert, then added that she had found the coffee dissappointing, she even handed over a tip. The fixed grimaces did not once leave the faces of our intrepid duo until after Madamoiselle had left the establishment and went merrily on her way. To this day I still hear the dulcet Dagenham tones, "bleedin foreigners don't know nuffink abaht coffee"

The Anchor Bar in Playa De Los Pocilos is a rare Bar these Days in that it gives !00% in all it does. The food is honest home cooking The staff are friendly and hard working and there is something going on most nights .Suits couples or families the place is clean has a great location never saw any trouble would recommend to anyone who wants a good night out the pig racing is hilarious. If there is one bar you visit in your time on Lanzarote, it has to be the Anchor Bar. On our first night we just popped in for a drink whilst we were out for a walk.....we ended up visiting every night of our 2 week holiday. The food is brilliant with such a varied choice. There is something for absolutely everyone on there. We also had breakfast a few times during our stay and could not fault it. Best cooked breakfast i've had in a while. No wonder its won best breakfast in lanzarote the past 2 years running. Prices are very reasonable. Entertainment every night which is really good. Something different every night. Friday night is a hoot!! Best thing of all....the staff. So friendly and welcoming. You actually feel like friends rather than a customer. They knew our drinks order as soon as we sat down. I would say the Anchor Bar feels more of a local to me than the pub around the corner from my flat. Cannot thank the Owners and staff enough for making us feel so welcome on our holiday and we will definitely be visiting them regularly when we go back to Lanzarote next year. P.S....Try the Milkshakes
