Owner description: Located 400 metres high, on the Risco de Famara, the Mirador del Río is one of César Manrique's most representative architectural creations as it shows a series of artistic and architectural details and his eagerness to combine art and nature. It is located near the remains of an ancient military base that dates back to the end of the 19th Century. It is camouflaged on the rock in a way in which only a genius of Manrique's magnitude could conceive.

Lanzarote isn't a big island so wherever you are a trip to Mirador del Rio at the northern tip of the island is wee worth taking.
A winding road leads you to Mirador and the viewing area provides you with breathtaking views over to La Graciosa.
Spend a couple of hours here and have a snack before moving on to other great sites nearby such as Jameos del Agua and the Cuevas Verde ( Green Caves)
You won't be disapointed

EUROPE 9 in for two adults, plus coffee. View is great however you'll get that for free further down the path off the car park.

When we decided to drive up here we hadn't realised that it was such an organised attraction!
The car park is good and free. It leads into a stone entrance to the attraction.
We saw several people going in and coming straight back out and concluded that they thought it was expensive.
We paid 4.50 euros and thought it was well worth it.

The viewpoint comprises the top of a cliff which is probably 1000ft up ( I coundn't testify to this). Through the entrance you walk into a cafe area with a large glass wall through which you can see a fantastic view of another island accross the channel of sea. You are very high up here but perfectly safe especially if you have small children.
There is also an outside viewing area at this level and also at a higher level.

We got some great photos from here.
I would say its well worth the 4.50 we paid to get in.
Also we ate at the cafe, which was very reasonable.

this place is worth a visit, although we read somewhere it is free entry but it actually costs €4.50 each, which isnt bad! you can see the same view from the road but i dont think it has the same effect as being stood on the balcony nor can you go up the stairs to the very top....i was too much of a wimp to go up the stairs because the staircase has a hole in...as you can see in some pictures people have uploaded, my partner said it was nice up there though!
