Owner description: Street with upscale shopping
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Calle Mayor de Triana, as its complete name is, is perhaps one of the best parts of Las Palmas not only for shopping but for getting in the real essence of Gran Canaria. One of the noticeable characteristics of this street is the modernist facades of the surrounding buildings such as the Teatro Perez Galdos and the headquarters of the Cabildo Insular de Gran Canaria.
If you enter the Teatro it is worth looking at the murals which are really exquisite and the Salon Saint-Saëns dedicated to the French composer who visited regularly the island.

I love shopping in this area, there are some chain stores in the area, but I love going down the side streets and visiting the unique independent "tiendas". Even if you don't buy a thing, this area is worth a visit. No cars are allowed in the area so you are free to dash from store to store, or sit in an outdoor cafe. There are a couple of really good typical Canarian restaurants in the area too.

Didn't mean to do any shopping really, but ended up buying some top quality clothes & shoes at super (sale) prices.
