“Excellent day trip!”
Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

We found the gardens without any trouble. We did park at the 'bottom' of the gardens where there is only parking on the side of the road. We didn't realise there is a purpose built car park at the 'top' of the gardens! It was perfectly fine where we left the car!

We spent a few hours wandering around the gardens and enjoying the views, sights, smells and educational treats provided in the park. If a small map or booklet could have been provided to help guide us around and explain things a bit more it would have been great. It is entirely possible they existed and we just missed them.

The cafe at the top of the gardens is a little more upmarket than a cafe!! We felt a little underdressed and raggedy after spending a few hours in the hot sun!! We could have sat outside away from the more respectably dressed patrons but we didn't want to miss out on the live music provided indoors. It also allowed us to have a magnificent view over the gardens as we ate our wonderful food. Again this is not a soup and sandwich cafe! We ate a traditional brothy rice dish and a delicious black noodle squid dish. Both of us cleared our plates!

I would recommend the day out to anyone. I would recommend they try to locate the upper car park for piece of mind! Maybe start the day with a nice meal in the restaurant and allow it to digest as you meander down through the gardens before returning uphill to your car.

“An interesting botanical garden”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

An extensive site, half of which is on relatively flat ground and the other half a meandering, and sometimes quite vertiginous, winding path up a steep hillside.
A comprehensive variety of Canarian flora on display but not displayed in a 'garden' setting as some may expect. This is a botanical garden for research purposes but also attractive in it's own right. There is not a lot of plant labelling and some was incorrect but that does not spoil the enjoyment.
Small museum explaning the Canarian flora, mostly concentrating on the 'Drago'.
Expect to spend a few hours here and enjoy lunch at the restaurant at the top of the hill.
Not suitable, except the lower part, for people with mobility difficulties or prams.
Well worth a visit if interested in plants.

“A great botanic garden”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

If you like botanic gardens, you'll love this one, especially for its range of local flora and the imaginative way it is set out on a site much of which - but by no means all - is steep. It's a bit out of the way, but once you're there there's lots for any plant enthusiast to enjoy. We only had an hour and a half and probably didn't see half of it.

“A quiet and lush escape”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

The garden is just 10-15 minutes drive from las Palmas and is a great time-out. We began at the top level of the garden, first enjoying the views of the green ravine, then descending through the greenery on stove-paved paths. On the way down you pass the gorgeous Dragon Blood Trees. In the bottom of the ravine the park expands with many other plants - and cactuses too!
It´s a great escpae from the busy city or the lazy Beach.

“Peaceful extensive botanical gardens”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

An amazing variety species of trees and plant life that grow on the islands are featured in the botanical gardens. Well laid out with paths covering the whole area which is quite extensive and in some parts rather hilly so restrictive for anyone less mobile than normal.
Great shame that there was no brochure or leaflet explaining what was on display and provision of this would have made the visit so much more enjoyable.
Easy enough to get to via the Global bus which drops you at the top gate and you can then walk down to the main lower area enjoying the views en route. To get back on the bus you have to climb back up to the starting point which is no where near as daunting as it first appears. Well worth a visit.
