I have visited many botanic gardens while traveling, but this was by far one of the best. The park is spread out and has a variety of gardens and sights to see. The section with the cacti was my favorite! There were varieties I've never seen before. I loved the creativity of some of the signage in the park. We found one where a seasonal plant grows but was out-of-season at the time. The sign was written from the plant's point of view. Very funny! Be sure to check out the ducks too! They're so cute. And it's all free!

You will find it uphill the old town center, in the Tafira district, where wealthy families used to have a villa. Make sure you visit the garden in wet months, as in summer it becomes almost dry and doen't worth the visit.
Science man Sventenius created this garden in 1952 to join all Canarian vegetation studied for the botanicals for its peculliarity and adaptation to the climate.
A couple of hours walk, some steep paths.

This is the best national park I have ever been to. It's divided into sections - the Cactus Garden is amazing! It's huge - you need a lot of time to see it all. There is a fairly flat section, but a lot of it is on the side of a hill. One tip is to go to the exhibition hall first, where you can get a paper copy of the map. There is a snack bar which is right at the top. There are two entrances to the park - one at the top and one at the bottom.

It is really worth to go there, you get a good overview of the different plants present in the island and have the possibility to take nice pictures. And all of this by free!

Take a stroll along the ravine and marvel at the subtropical vegetation. A fab few hours out and about, easy access to/from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
