This beach is superbly kept up by the city council. It has clean sand and a beautiful promenade with excellent facilities (restaurants of all types, bars, a few shops and hotels, and some attractive buildings (as well as a few tacky ones!). It is very spacious and never seems over crowded. Low tide is best for swimming since it gets a bit rough at high tide when the Atlantic rollers come in over the reef, but at low tide it's quiet. Locals and tourists relax freely on the sand, and there are no hustlers or hawkers - or dogs - to bother you. Usually there is a calming breeze to temper the heat of the midday sun. In the evenings the promenade is busy with the evening walkers strolling up and down. A wonderful (and safe) place to be!
