We visited the crater during a recent stop on a cruise, when we had rented a car for the day.
Like most locations on this island it is an easy drive to the top of the crater from where you not only have outstanding views of the crater itself, but also looking back over Gran Canaria.
The crater is 1,000m in diameter, 200m deep and situated 569m above sea level. It is impossible to imagine the volcanic eruption that produced this wonder of nature.
Make an effort to get there.
