Well worth a day out in this part of Las Palmas. Fascinating old architecture with museums including Columbus Museum, Canarian Museum, Cathedral on Santa Ana Square and much more. Take your time to wander along the old narrow streets and soak up the atmosphere, stopping at the small Canarian bars for refreshments! The next sector is Triana for a spot of shopping and on the coast you will find the yachting community. For me, this was the nicest part of Las Palmas.

We took the bus from San Agustin and got off at the first bus station in Las Palmas, and walked along the Triana shopping street into Vegueta. It was a really nice area to wander round - quiet little streets, interesting architecture, museums, churches and the cathedral. There are some little squares with cafes where you can order a drink, relax and watch people go by. A lovely area.

The architecture is really nice. I did not expect to find such on Gran Canaria. The narrow streets, music coming from a lot of restaurants create a nice atmosphere and good infrastructure. No issue with finding a parking place.

We rented a small house for 3 weeks in Vegueta just off Santo Domingo Plaza and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of peaceful urban living among locals. A lot of the main historical attractions are in Vegueta or the nearby district of Triana. Just walking around the small streets in the area of the cathedral gives a real good impression of Las Palmas 400 or so years ago.
