Excellent location in the town but beside the beach and water front. transport readily available. The breakfast food was excellent but the dining room a little crowded at times. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A superb pool on the roof.

Room tip: The sea view rooms are worth having

We stayed here for six nights in March and the hotel is situated in a first class location overlooking the fabulous beach and promenade.

The hotel bedrooms and bathrooms are tired and in need of refurbishment. The hotel is closing from late May until early July and the bathrooms are being refurbished. There was a little doubt if any works were being done to the bedrooms due to the time constraint and money.

The dining room overlooks the promenade and the breakfast is excellent. The evening meal is also very good and the price of the house wine at eight euros was great.

The roof top pool and adjacent lounge bar are very good except the area is affected by windy weather. The lower level floor 5 solarium is a limited sun bathing area but is without umbrellas and therefore shade. Only a few sun loungers.

The ground floor bar which is 'palm court' style has a pleasant ambience and is directly off the promenade. The only criticism is the glass of wine which, unusually for Spain, is a only poured to maximum half a glass size and when we said the measure was small and the waiter poured more when the bill came the glass was charged as a double measure. Strange when the wine in the restaurant is eight euros for a full bottle.

The staff were helpful and we will definitely revisit again.

..well,it depends what you want. For us,it was the best and having visited other hotels the Reina Isabel was the winner.
The position is excellent, being right on the seafront and if you choose to pay the extra of sea facing rooms, the views are really worthwhile. The hotel also has what amounts to a private beach with loungers for residents only. The authorities are to be congratulated for keeping one of the cleanest beaches i have seen.
Whilst the sea facing rooms have the great views, the decor and facilities are somewhat worn(not bad). The hotel closes later this year for improvements to the rooms.
The food is a strong feature and i would recommend going for the half board option. The dining room (breakfast and dinner) has good sea views.Good, varied menus and top,top staff.
Many reviews have mentioned the spa area as a big plus. Our only complaint was that the pool does not really allow swimming lengths, due to a policy of having water jets up and down the length of the pool. This would be the only reason for us not returning. If you not bothered about swimming and are happy to just dip and lounge by the pool..no problem.
As mentioned the staff are exceptional....Lydia in reception,Orlando in the restaurant and our chambermaid were stand outs..but all were stars.
If you were considering other hotels..I would say choose one that is on the beach front. The promenade is a good feature to have outside your door and you are have many bar and tapas options.

Room tip: If you have the budget, take the sea view

My wife and I stayed here in early March and were delighted with the hotel. The reception/lounge area was impressive and very comfortable. Check-in was very easy. Our room was well proportioned although the decor was little 'tired' (a major re-fit is due from May 2016). Also, it was not possible to heat the room; despite the temperate climate, the room was a bit chilly until we had become acclimatised. We had a generously sized balcony overlooking the sea and the excellent beach (Playa de las Canteras). Breakfast was one of the highlights. Without doubt, the widest selection of (high-quality food) we have come across in over forty years of travel around the world. All the staff were friendly. The reception staff were very helpful in providing local information (and supplied a useful map of Gran Canaria and Las Palmas) but it would be helpful to have a selection of tourist leaflets/brochures in the foyer. We would be more than happy to stay here again.

Fabulous location across the broad walk straight onto beach. Staff very courteous and helpful. As much breakfast as you want with good selection. Only had one evening meal on the day we arrived Main restaurant menu not very inspiring and as there are great restaurants all along the front we tried quite a few which added to our stay. A la carte restaurant on the top floor next to great pool did great food. The spa offered great deals at a sensible price. On the whole I would definitely recommend it and will be returning.

Room tip: Best views and quietness ask for sea view as the front of the hotel overlooks main street
