“OK, but not 5*”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

This hotel is OK, but it's not really worthy of 5*. We have nothing particular to complain about, the hotel is just a bit tired that's all. It's on a really busy street, it's hard to find the dungeon of an underground car park, and you'll end up driving around in circles. Make sure you get an ocean view, it's lovely - the other side of the hotel really isn't. Location is great, you are on a very busy seafront promenade with a wide variety of restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: Must have sea view

Good location in front of the beach right across the pedestrian street, the room needed maintenance work (bathroom cracked tiles, loose towel hook, loose socket...) and had worn out carpet. The breakfast was regular and the staff friedly.
During the six days that I stayed at the hotel the swimming pool was closed for maintenance and the mail that I sent complain about this fact was automatically sent back with the message that the mail box is full.
Definitely not what is expected from a 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view or you will get one to old buildings and neighbors windows (streets a...

First impressions are of a large hotel adjacent to the beach/boardwalk.The reception area is tired looking and somewhat lacklustre with lifts to match. The room itself was a good size, modern and bright with a balcony - although i felt that it was a cross between Ikea and Easyjet in styling - it needed something to break up the starkness of the room, even just a picture would do it! It was very clean with a good selection of shampoos/soaps etc. The downside was a very poor air con that barely worked (the same in many rooms i discovered) and the other down side was Wifi was very hit and miss (mostly miss) although a cable connection is available. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of items. Not a 5 star hotel for me.

Room Tip: a room over looking the beach (front) is preferable to looking at an office block (rear)

It was my second visit to this hotel having stayed last year too. The bedrooms are ok but in need of an update (the website shows some nice modern rooms but I have yet to see them, I'm presuming they're reserved for the premium rates). This time however I had a balcony overlooking the beach which was lovely. It sounds odd but it really bugs me that the toilet is separate to the bathroom! The breakfast is good an plentiful and the staff friendly. Ok for Business Travel

Room Tip: overlooking the beach

This hotel is located on the north eastern side of the island, roughly a 30min drive from the airport. From what I gathered, this is more the "business" district. All the holiday tourists seem to be concentrated on the southern/south western side.

The hotel is generally neat and tidy, but the passages are very badly lit, and look dodgy. The rooms are clean and extremely plain, but comfortable - I had a good sleep. There is also internet available in the rooms, and wi-fi in the lobby.
The hotel is situated along the promenade, so here are many shops and restaurants available within walking distance.

I needed a business facility, and was showed to a tiny room near the receptionist desk, which had one computer on what looked like a "student" type desk. This desk was next to the vending machine. This computer had no internet facility; my emails had to be forwarded to the front desk in order for it to be printed.

Breakfast at the hotel was great.

Room Tip: You can choose a sea-facing or harbour-facing room.

The Cristina Las Palmas is a typical package hotel, it classes itself as 5 star however it is far from it. The reception area is very plain and grotty. I was staying in what they call a suite and i was certainly charged enough for it (264 Euros a night). The room itself was ok with a large bed, sitting area, work desk and shower room however it was clear that they have tried to make it look nice without spending too much money. The terrace was fantastic though, full length of the room overlooking the beach, perfect for sitting with a few beers in the evening and a wee cigar.

Around town there is not alot to do, a few tacky second hand shops and a mall which has seen better days. A few bars and restaurants around but nothing to spectacular.

I tried to order room service (as i was completely knackered after flying all the way from India) just to find out that the main room phone doesn't work, fortunately i had a phone in the bathroom however not one member of staff on the other side spoke English so in my pigeon Spanish i managed to place an order for some cheese and ham and some local bread. Room service bill came to 38 Euros which was shocking especially as the quality of the food served was pretty basic, i could have went to the small mini-mart on the corner and bought the lot for myself for less than 5 euros (which i did on the second day).

On a whole for a day or 2 its ok but if anyone is planning on coming for a holiday then stay on the mainland as there is not alot to do here (apart from the beach).

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the beach but i think they will charge you extra for this.

Stayed there during a business trip. Since my other favourite hotel in LP was fully booked.
Cristina has a very good location just on teh beach promenade, she has been "kind of" renovated where I think they have used two totally different interior designers. On the terrace and pool area they give an image of trendy and modern while the rooms are like a old english cottage!
It gets very windy on the terrace so you dont see many people there if any at all, at least during my stay in March!
The check in is a bit strange to be honest, dont book through online web based low fair booking sites as you will be deeply disappointed. They will to 99% place you in one of the inner rooms with view of a wall!!! Only rooms with sea view are worth the money. So make sure you book and secure a sea view room. The rooms are fairly small, the interior design is outdated!
The reception has a mix of crew, some very friendly and some not up to standard.
Breakfast is quite good, yet again it will depend on who serves your table to get your coffee on time.
Internet cover varies from room to room. I had a very poor cover, while my collegues in other rooms had full cover.
I dont unedsrtand how the hotel has got 5 stars to be honest. The only five star area when it is good weather is the pool area and the terrace around it.
For the same cost there are some better options in Las Palmas.

Room Tip: Make sure to have a balcony and sea view room.
