“Lovely tapas and superb view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2014

Stepped in for tapas and what an awesome feeling to be so well received. The beers were ice, ice, ice cold and the tapas chosen were delicious - baby fried squid, octopus and potato and avocado with tomato and black olives. Oh, and the view of the playa was really pretty too....

“Great view - pity about the food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

We went to this restaurant for dinner. The view was great (if you sit outside) the service was good and friendly, and although the food was reasonable, it was only just warm. We had the fried aubergine and the fried cheese for starters. The aubergine was good, but only warm, and one piece of cheese was decidedly "icy cold" in the middle. The rest was warm. For mains we had the octopus with garlic potatoes, and the calamari with fries. The octopus was warm, as were the calamari and fries, but both were not at all crispy. As this was our first meal in Las Palmas I thought that maybe they eat their food warm. I have since discovered that this is not the case.

“Best Place on Playa de Las Canteras”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

This is the only place I can really recommend along the entire Playa de Las Canteras today, and I have been eating (as well as just drinking white wine in the sun) here multiple times. If you are here to eat a full meal or just drop in for a coffee the service is always friendly and very efficient. Shows a professional attitude with no touts. Visited by locals and tourists alike. All food I have tried has been super tasty.

“Split decision”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

I visited this restaurant which is placed in front of a beach in a lovely setting 3 days ago.
The food was cooked amazingly and the portions enormous. My partner and I ate the mixed seafood platter and it was delicious. Although we had to ask 4 times in 20 minutes for a re-fill of beverages.
The down side was that they were understaffed so getting the attention of the waitresses was a feat in itself. It took 29 minutes to get someone's attention to order but the food was amazing so we decided to return at the end of the holiday.
Well guess what?
No such luck this time. It was Sunday so a lot busier and we were told the table we wanted was booked for an hours time but we could have it until then so we did.
We spend 20 minutes trying to get a waitress to notice us which was stressful bearing in mind we only had one hour to order a meal and eat it.
We wanted all the food to arrive at the same time as we were given a time scale but the salad and fries arrived on its own 15 minutes later.
The fries were partially raw in places and extremely oily but the avocado salad was ok. Ten minutes later the garlic prawns arrived which were swimming in oil that was not at all garlicky but was rather bland in taste.
We had eaten several garlic prawns dishes and this was the worse one we had all week!
After another 10 minutes I had to call one of the waitresses ( I think she was the manager or owner) to complain that I was still waiting for fried squid I had ordered some 25 minutes ago.
It then arrived after 5 minutes ( we suspected that it became urgent to the waitress we complained to as she was the person who had told us we needed to vacate the table in one hours time).
The squid was really greasy (not dry and crispy like the last time) and tasted really oily and spongy.
We returned to this restaurant due to loving the food the last time we visited which was only a few days ago. There was the same amount of staff (actually the same people plus maybe 3 additional members of staff) so we didn't understand why the food was less than average this particular time.
It could have been due to a busy period but the waiting time was still appalling on both occasions.
The food made up for it the first time but the second time the long wait for badly cooked food was not acceptable.
On a good day this restaurant will deliver great food. On a bad day the opposite but either way prepare for a rather lengthy wait.
Do I recommend this restaurant?
I have mixed feelings on the subject but........ having to shout and wave your arms as if you're at a concert is off putting so ....... You decide!

“fish in the rain”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

A great place to have outdoor seafood. I chose a fish from the catch of the day that they brought to the table. The fish was delicious and nicely grilled on the charcoal grill. My wife enjoyed a huge portion of Jumbo shrimps - super fresh, delicious. For starters we had calamary rings which lived also up to our expectations.
The service personal is very friendly and serves with a smile. Unfortunately halfway in our meal it started to rain and we had to shift our table around 3 times to not totally get soaked. Here the restaurant should have better back up options - but then it usually never rains in GC :)
