It was a toss-up between a grand, traditional building in the heart of old town Vegueta, and this apartment literally touching the beach; this one won! We made the right choice. Later spending some time in the old quarter, we realised that it gave antiquity and a historic charm, but was isolated from all else that Lad Palmas had to offer.
Lucia' s apartment was perfect. Its interior was as charming as the photos advertising it, and once one opened all windows and shutters (which were open constantly), one blended into the outside world.
The lengthy terrace, running the full length of the propert offered great entertainment, in that placing the bar stools out there, meant everyone could sit up at the terrace edge (as if at the bar of a pub), drinking wine and watch everything and everyone outside. Luckily, there was a Spanish Fiesta occurring during our visit, for which we had a front row seat; the fun and frolic was superb, and being on the first floor, again, meant you became part of it.
Restaurants, the beach, and supermarkets are at within a few metres, and everything else in capital is easily accessed from this excellent apartment.
Lucia, the owner, met us at the property to hand over keys, and had kindly popped water, soft drinks and chocolate into the fridge; a bowl of fruit welcomed us also.
The apartment provided all one could need for a holiday (strangely, no kettle for my tea-drinking companion), with a coffee machine completing MY happiness.
We did everything, walked everywhere, and missed nothing in Las Palmas, based in this perfect base.
You MUST use the bar/ restaurant beneath. It's amazing, and unique! Everything is between one and two Euros...food, drink, etc. Amazing quality. You go to the bar with your order, give your name, then go back outside to hang out over the beach. Your name is called, and you collect your food and drink. Amazing quality! Don't know how they do it, but glad they do.
Thank you, Lucia, for this gem of a property!
