I ate at Cho Zacarias for the second time recently, and it was as amazing as my first time there two years ago.
The restaurant is located in the middle of the old part of Las Palmas, very close to Casa Colon and the Cathedral. The setting of the restaurant is elegant, yet not too stuffy. Both of the waiters there were helpful and courteous. The seafood salad we had as a starter was delicious (and the portion was quite generous). The foie gras main dish I had was just heavenly. I also sampled the codfish crepe that my partner had, and it was excellent as well.
The wine list at this restaurant is quite extensive as well. We wanted to sample some Gran Canaria wine at first. One of the waiters warned us that the Canarian red wine they had there was not what they would recommend, but if we wanted to try it, they would be glad to open a bottle and let us sample it. We sampled one of the bottles of the Canarian red wine, and were not all that impressed by it. We ended up with a bottle of the 2008 Toro wine by Prima, and that was excellent.
If you are visiting Las Palmas, please be sure to sample this very fine Spanish restaurant. I have been to Spain about ten times, and this is one of my very favorite restaurants in all of Spain.
