A large restaurant situated just where the historical district (Vegueta) meets the commercial district (Triana). Sometimes I give three stars to suggest disappointment with what is reputed to be a really good restaurant. On other occasions three stars can indicate that an "ordinary" restaurant is, indeed, quite good. The latter is true in this case. El Herreño is a traditional restaurant that doesn't claim to be exciting or innovative. But food and service are good. The waiters look like they've been there for decades. Linen tablecloths. Interesting wooden decorations on the plain white walls. Spacious rooms with high ceilings. A nice place to go to from time to time to relax rather than to explore.
