My friends from Gran Canaria drive me to Agaete today and I was very impressed; it is my favourite place in Gran Canaria so far. I really liked the natural pools, the water was quite warm and very clean! We even saw some crabs! The rocks are volcanic and the views are absolutely stunning! We walked around the town and it was very quiet, we had a lovely day! The walk from the town to the pools was easy and very pretty! It is a little bit windy but still warm. The best place to park is a sand parking really close to the Dedo de Dios restaurant, it's only 2€ for the whole day.

A visit to Finca Los Berrazales in the outskirts of San Pedro, near Agaete, is something I highly recommend. You will be shoved around the beautiful grounds where they grow vines, oranges, guava, coffee and many other things. They also told us the farm's history. Then we were offered to taste the fruits and the red and white wines as well as their own coffee. It was a visit that made me happy and at a very low price €6 in December 2014. The semi dry white was our favourite.

You can park car in harbor (we didn’t pay a fee). Down on the boardwalk you can find few swimming pools build in rocks. City itself is worth to walk a little, beach is small and full of stones but ocean and mountains are very scenic. We ate in one of the restaurant close to beach – paella for two 14 EUR, grilled fish for two 16 EUR, beer 1,5 EUR. Grilled fish was very good and cold almost frozen beer was as a medicine for us ;)

If the weather is good, you get spectacular views of the coast. The walk itself is not a relentless climb or descent (lots of turns) and there are places to stop and have a picnic. Fitness needed to climb - my guess is around 800m or ascent.

Agaete as a place is nothing which has to be seen. You can stroll across the village for 10 minutes and you have seen it all. But: it is an iron must to drive up the VALLE DE AGAETE!
Agaete village is dry and quite ugly in my opinion. Just a few kilometers inland you can hardly believe what you will see. It is GREEN, full of fruit plantations and flowers! It is well worth driving up all the way until the street ends. You will find your peace here, while in Agaete village and Hotel Roca Negra you will never be alone.
