“Very good if you are interested in history”
Reviewed August 24, 2014

We toured all over the island with particular focus on sites of historical importance and interest. These caves were homes to the early island inhabitants. The water source nearby is the only natural water on the island, hence the settlers choice of cave homes. Many of the finds from this site have gone to local museums. The caves would be good to see as part of a tour so you can link the history with the other nearby sites but if you have no interest in history and geology this would be one to miss.

“An interesting drive and an excellent lunch”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

A drive up this ravine makes an interesting trip out, especially after rainfall when the peculiarly Canarian vegetation is at its best, and taking a pair of binoculars will allow you to see some of the bird life. Combining the drive with lunch in one of the cave restaurants is what really makes the trip however. We ate at one on the road half way up the ravine (rather than the one at the top end) and were rewarded with great local food at a modest price in a bizarre setting.

“Very Average”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

The reviews make this sound much better than it is. It really is just a few cave houses, which are not particularly interesting and a visitor centre with late 70s style exhibits (its only a couple of Euros to get in so fair enough). The surrounding scenery is nice.
Did have a cup of tea in the restaurant, which has a free for all queueing system.

“Dinner in the caves”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

A trip to see where some locals still live in caves hewn out of the mountainside. Get to the top of the road, park, walk round the circular pathway and enjoy the views of the valley and distant sea. Finish your excursion with something to eat in the restaurant built into the hillside.
