“Nice for a short visit by car”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

Tried to get down this ravine from the north as my GPS showed access road. Turned out to be a rough gravel track not suitable for cars so had to come up from Aguimes. Went as far as Restaurant Tagoror; the road just after this peters out. Pleasant views from here but hardly spectacular; the Valle de Agaete is better (but no bar or restaurant at the top!). Would make a good base for walking further up the Barranco which looked from a distance to have better scenery. Scruffy-looking heritage center further down the valley but hardly seemed worth going in for the admittance fee.

“Magnificent scenery & interesting cave dwellings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Magnificent scenery & interesting cave dwellings await you if you can find the approach road from Aguimes. It is a narrow road at the top of a sharp S bend at the eastern end of the town. The signpost is just beyond the turning! However, it is worth the journey. Beware the coach loads of tourists arriving and take over the walks. They also have mass bookings at the tapas bar in a cave-however their food was some of the nicest tapas we had on the island & prices were good too considering it is a tourist trap. The benefit of tagging onto a trail of coach tourists is that one of the cave houses is opened by the owner so you can have a look around her main living, dining, bedroom-very quaint and interesting. Do have a few coins as a tip, it is worth it. The road up the valley extends a long way beyond the obvious tourist stop and very well worth it. Plus, take your walking kit to get off the main road to make the best of this day out.

“Enchanting Valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

It was tough to find the entrance of this valley and I almost gave up, but in the end I circumnavigated the tiny town streets to get to the entry and was well-rewarded. On the day I visited it was late in the day and the clouds were beginning to roll in. As I made it further up the valley the clouds got closer and closer until I was actually IN them. In late February the wildflowers are in bloom including Echium and Euphorbia. I didn't see any hiking trails, but anywhere you can pull off the road take advantage of any open spot to explore what this beautiful place has to offer.

“Something different than the tourist areas...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013

The place is worth to visit. You need to have a car to reach the place and it is a bit tricky to find but with good map and instructions you will make it :)
There is a old lady who sometimes let you to visit her home, it´s nice to leave her some coins for that..

If you are hungry, you can drive till the end of the road and eat in a cave restaurant. If the day is cold, try hot Lumumba drink..but only one if you are the driver ;)
