“Perfectly located for the Ciutadella”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

This is a clean, modern hotel. The rooms are comfortable and relatively spacious, with comfortable beds and well appointed bathrooms - jacuzzi bath, shower, twin sinks and a bidet too. There is plenty of wardrobe and draw space. The balcony was a decent size and comfortably sits two with a table and chairs.

Breakfast is very good with a selection of cereals, fruit, hams, cheeses, breads, local produce and someone cooking fresh eggs and omelettes too. Breakfast runs until 10am on weekdays and 10.30 at the weekend. The hotel caters for dinner too (a buffet) but we never ate there and so cannot comment on how good or bad it is.

There is a pool surrounded by sun loungers, which never seem overly busy. You can borrow hotel towels for a €15 deposit, and so perhaps consider not taking your own.

The hotel is very quiet, and the bar closes at 11.30pm and so that adds to the quiet atmosphere. There is a road that runs in front of the hotel, but traffic is very light. Parking all around the hotel is free, or you can pay €25 per week to park under the hotel. The big recommendation is to have a sea view room on the 2nd floor (we had 246) as a standard room either overlooks the pool and are not private at all or they overlook a road. Prices do vary a great deal - we paid €640 for a seaview room, but they do increase to €1,200 at the peak.

The hotel is a 10 to 15 minute stroll to the Ciutadella and a few minutes from a couple of local supermarkets. There is a beach (man made) across the road, but suits a purpose, but isn't that inspiring.

Make a point to visit Macarella and Turqueta beaches - they are both lovely. Macarella is a 15 minute walk through trees from the free car park. Turqueta is about 5 minutes from the free car park. The most amazing beach of all is Pregonda - it takes 30 minutes to walk to it once parked. It's not an easy walk and once there, there are no facilities, but the view is amazing.

All in all a great hotel, which I would definitely recommend. Be aware that the spa costs €5 per person per day, which is a shame when you have paid to stay in the hotel.

Room Tip: Sea view and second floor are what you need to go for. Standard rooms will be dissappointing.

This was an early Summer break for myself and my partner, both of whom had lost spouses in recent years. We found the staff to be polite, friendly and attentive, and the service and food was better than we had anticipated. We would have no problem in recommending the hotel, but feel it is better suited to friends/couples rather than families.

This was a family holiday with age ranges from 2yrs-50yrs, My husband and mysellf, our two teenagers, our 23yr and his fiance and our grandchild.
We were originally were booked in another resort but they closed early so were upgraded to this hotel. The rooms were big and were very well equipped. They were clean and the maid came every day. The restaurant was fabulous and although was buffet style the menu changed daily. The staff were friendly and nothing was any trouble. Our grand daughter was getting restless in the restaurant one night and the waitress bought over a toy for her to play with. How thoughtful.

The outdoor pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds. The gym and indoor heated pool had to be paid for separately each day you wanted to use it but then I didn't expect it to be free.

The weather was warm and the location quiet. We had a little beach within 5 mins walk and the walk into the city took 10 mins. There were lots of mini parks for our grand daughter to play in and value for money was excellent.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were contacted twice by Thomson in the week prior to our departure to advise us that our hotel would not have the services of a resort representative. I was asked on each occasion if I had an issue with this.

My repeated concern to each caller was that our evening arrival time in Mahon meant we would be collecting our hire car in probable darkness. I was assured that if we had any problems as a result, we could contact their UK based HolidayLine team.

After retrieving our luggage, We approached the group of Thomson representatives on duty. I was somewhat alarmed that they gave us no help or could provide any directions to our accommodation. In our opinion they displayed no duty of care whatsoever. We were simply pointed towards the Europcar desk and basically told to sort ourselves out. We have never received such a shoddy welcome.

The drive from the airport began in fading light and ended in Ciutadella in virtual darkness amidst standing traffic and Friday night’s hustle and bustle. After asking several people, who unfortunately spoke little or no English for directions, we drove around aimlessly for a considerable length of time before stumbling upon our hotel, an hour and thirty five minutes after leaving the airport, more by luck than good judgement.

As the hotel is on a one way street, we circled it a few times before eventually finding somewhere to park the car. This resulted in a 5 minute walk dragging the cases through the surrounding streets.

We soon settled in and found the hotel spotlessly clean and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We booked B&B but were offered a 3 night deal for half board at 14 Euros each per night which we booked and subsequent repeated for a further 3 nights. We virtually had the restaurant to ourselves as we dined just after 7 o'clock but it became more lively towards 8 o'clock. The food was varied each night but there were some regular items on the buffet. There was also some show cooking on offer where you could have your meat or fish cooked to your liking.

There is a pleasant promenade that allows you to walk into the centre of Ciutadella which we did a few times. There are many places to see, shop and eat at in the old town.

There was the usual towels on the sunbed syndrome and there weren't sufficient of them to go round so we never had any time by the pool in our week stay.

Lunch in the bar was cool and relaxing an reasonably priced too.

Once we got the lie of the land, we spent the week exploring the island and navigated our way back to the hotel with ease - in daylight!

We had been initially told that a hire car was mandatory, which we put to good use, but we were slightly annoyed when we found out that there was an airport transfer for Thomson clients on our flight.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel enjoy a view of the channel opposite whereas we had a room on th...

Stayed here last week w/c 24-10 on an all inclusive basis
We were supposed to be staying at its sister hotel in Cala en Porter, but they shut it early
We were given a suite , but it smell very damp and musty but it was clean
Food was ok but the restaurant lacked atmosphere, felt like being at School again
If you wanted a drink a the bar , be prepared to wait and wait.
The staff overall were very good but not many off them to cover all the area's.
Never used the pool as the weather was not great.
As I said very functional a bit like an Ibris but more expensive.

We read all the positive reports on Tripadvisor and all I can say is that we were very disappointed. If you are looking for a holiday or short stay hotel for a break, unless you are in Menorca on business, this hotel cannot be described as a holiday resort. There were a lot of guests looking perplexed with the destination that they found themselves in. The hotel is completely devoid of any atmosphere and I would say it is soulless. Yes it is clean and the staff are nice but this is not a hotel to head to for a holiday! We cancelled our booking via On The Beach, really they should not be booking this for holiday makers, and booked into a hotel at Cala Galdana which was worlds apart in my opinion. And the location is not correct on the map. It is further along the inlet with only a few rooms actually facing the sea for which you had to pay an extra €30 Euros a night. The hotel is a good 20 mins walk into Cuitadella and the short walk is full of potholes and uneven pavements. There was a manhole cover with a sharp rusty iron edge sticking out of the ground by at least an inch, wouldn't like to trip over that late at night! Avoid if you are heading to Menorca on holiday. Like a business hotel, there was no coffee and tea making facilities in the room unless you paid for it and you had to pay extra for most things, parking, gym etc.
