We have just returned from a week here and loved it. The hotel is in a lovely quiet relaxing area with the beach a 2 minute walk from the hotel. We were self-catering so only ate in the hotel restaurant one night. There is a lovely restaurant 'The Steak House' just next door which does nice food in a lovely setting. The Spar supermarket just down the road had all the supplies we needed for self-catering and the bus stop was easy to get to as well. The hotel provided us with a copy of the bus timetable which was useful. Cuitadella is a 10 min bus ride away and Cala Bosch about 15 mins away to go for a boat trip. The hotel was clean, rooms were cleaned every other day and the staff were friendly and attentive. We had everything we needed in easy reach and were able to relax and enjoy ourselves.

Room Tip: Our room (number 17) was literally right next to the pool which was nice for when we stayed by the pool as it was easy to get back too.

I've stayed in cub cales de ponent in september of 2012. The complex is very family driven. Is it's usual to have the kids playing in the pool and in the small park in the common areas. The apartments are basic but clean although they are only cleaned every 2 days (i really think they should improve this). Since we were two coupled sharing the apartment i thought that it was very small for four adults. The apartment has one double room and one twin room. The twin room is very small and the beds are obviously apart (it is not adequate for a couple) besides that this room did not had any closet, only the master one had. Also there was only 1 very small bathroom for the two couples. I think that this kind of apartments are best suited for a couple with 2 children, for four full adults i strongly advise you to choose another hotel. The living room was quite nice with a good flat TV and the kitchenette suited our needs. The small patio was very pleasant in warm nights since our apartment (number C17) was near the pool. On the other hand .... since our apartment was near the pool we had to ear all night the pool's pump running. One other remark is the fact that the wall isolation was very poor ... if is was a cold night is was a very cold room ... if it was a warm night is was a hot room. One other remark is the fact that the electric boiler was very small and at best it was enough for two baths ... on the third at the end that water was cold. Also the small home appliance (like microwaves) are only available in the reception and have a deposit associated.
The hotel is very near a very beautiful beach, it's a 2 minutes walk. By car in 5 minutes you are in cuitadella that has lot's of restaurants and bars. The locations is very good.

The rooms are basic but clean, no air con though which made it very hot at night. After there first night slept with patio doors open.
Stayed half board, which we could swap a evening meal to lunch if you wanted to eat out. The food was excellent something different every night.
The resort is beautiful, swam nearly every night in the sea until ten o'clock

It is a family complex, lots of kids enjoying the pool and making friends. My boys Elliott and Theo made lots of friends of all ages (even the teenagers and non English speakers joined in) They are 6 & 11. They learnt how to play ping pong in kids clubs, cards with the teenagers on an evening. There were some really lovely people there. 2 boys from Belgium joined in the games on an evening, 1 couldn't speak English, so the other interpreted for him, thats how freindly it was. Plus free WiFi, which is always a hit.2 free laptops in reception, so they can update their twitter and facebook (ask for your pass when you check in for personal devices)

How the complex is laid out, there is always somewhere around the pool to get in the shade, and no one reserves sun beds (yes, even in August summer hols!) The beach is just at the bottom of the hotel steps. It is 'wheel friendly' but is on a bit of a slope. Not a huge complex, but lots of atmosphere. Rooms were good. 2 bedroom definitely a plus. Living area a good size, but we never spent much time in there. The balconies are very narrow on the upper floor, so if you need a bit of space go for ground floor with toddlers or if you have prams, as they are much wider and like a semi circle. Apt no. 1 or 2 look out onto the beach, so if you request that and you get it, that would be my first pick. There is a fridge, and you can request a kettle, microwave, electric fan etc from reception (small returnable deposit) no baths, just large shower. Both bedrooms good size, just a little short of room for clothes storage for bedroom 2. Under bed draws would be ideal. We looked out over car park for bedrooms, and this could be noisey in the night, because all the windows were open, with just the shutters as it was sooooooo warm. We stayed the last week in August.....very hot! It was in the 90's, and there is no air con in the rooms. But other than the unbearable heat it was great.

The food was good, typical all inc. quality, with something for everyone. Wine and beer of good quality, and very nice coffee. Always a menorcan style dish each day,(always yummy!) with 'interesting' desserts. A busy and effcient eaterie in very modern style. All inc. bar stops at 10.30, which i think is too early. No one was getting drunk, you just wanted to sit out in the warm and enjoy a chat with friends, while the children played. Snacks were also served at 5pm, but who had room for them i don;'t know!

The resort of Cala Santandria is fab, we have been 3 times. The beach is lovely, and the water is very safe and shallow and warm. Even i swam in it. As with most things in Menorca, it is very low key, not very commercialised and feels very safe. This is why we love it. Cuitdadella is 10 mins away by bus, and is the old capital. Its beautiful and well worth a trip in. a 20 min walk will get you into the small commercial area where there are bars and restaurants and a large gift shop.

The staff at the hotel were fab. A small team, but always happy to help. Reception are very helpful with buses, and local info and beaches. Menorcans in general i find are so welcoming, and we love the island.

BABIES ESSENTIAL INFO:
Microwaves available in rooms and are in the restaurant. Baby pool secured. ground floor rooms have semi circle balconies so room for prams. rooms have showers only as far as i know. small playground. lots of other little people to play with. Eva who runs kids club 3-7 is adorable, and has a huge cupboard full of beach toys to borrow. Big pool is VERY deep , 2m at the deep end, but adults can only stand up near the top.

We intended to go, fly and flop. Just enjoy the pool and beach with the children. But, there is lots to see and do in Menorca. If you are child free or have older children car hire and seeing the island would be fab. If you don't want children at your resort, then i'm sure out of term time this will be much calmer, but for those of us that have school age kids, its the perfect pick

I'm happy to answer any small questions to help you choose.

Room Tip: Ask for beach side, rooms 1 & 2 have sea view, lower ground for big semi circle balcony

We arrived late in the evening, reception were brilliant at getting us booked in and took us round to our apartment so we didnt have to hunt for it! It was basic but clean - much like we have experienced on all of our holidays. The rooms were really hot, andas it was our first night we didnt feel comfortable about leaving the windows open - so we suffered the first night! We need not have worried, the whole area felt very safe and friendly.
The pool area was very clean, and the water soon warmed in the sunshine. We never had a problem finding loungers at any stage of the day. The children made lots of friends at the pool and enjoyed the kids club, playing table tennis, bingo and all sorts of activities.
Cleaners came in every other day and changed all the beds and towels. The fridge freezer was handy but had seen better days!
It was about a 3 minute walk to the beach, again lovely and clean. The sunsets are simply stunning, and there were life guards patrolling the area... although it was not too tidal as its in a sheltered bay - so again, nice and safe sloping sands for the children. Sa Nacra across the bay even had a diving board - the kids LOVED this.
TOP TIPS:
Hire a safe and a fan from reception, it is cheap enough and will make your stay more comfortable.

Take a bus at the top of the road to Ciutadella, it's beautiful and the fish market is amazing.

Head to the Irish Bar (sign posted the panoramic view) for good priced drinks and a lovely shop at the top of the strip for all your gifts.

Find the diving pools - they are the first right after the supermarket on the way to the Irish bar... BEAUTIFUL!

Room Tip: We were in Apt 68 right at the back of the complex.. it backs onto the main road which is very busy, especially the noisy and frequent motorbikes. If you are light sleepers it would have kept you awake! I rated the sleep quality as poor because of this.
