“Poor Restaurant (small portions) and overpriced”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Good food quality but very small portions. We had as starter tuna tartar with guacamole (very tasteful) And porc carpaccio (nothing special. Boring, no flavor). Cochinillo as main dish: very tasteful but VERY SMALL portion. You need to have dessert to have the feeling you had dinner. Dessert ok. The service was good. The waiter very helpful, explaining very well the dishes and even recommending as per our request. Nice atmosphere. Be sure you get a table outside, in front of the swimming pool. The Wine we had from Menorca was not as expected.

Staying at Morvedra Nou was a great pleasure. The hotel is small but beautifully laid out with private and communal areas set out with great thought and attention to detail. The staff were a real joy, friendly, helpful and always smiling. We stayed in one of the rooms in the separate building opposite the main house. The room was large enough for two and the bathroom and shower worked well. We loved the extra touches like fresh cotton bed linen and extra towels for the pool. The pool area was a real hit with our son, big enough to swim in and play diving games with other kids. The grounds are beautifully planted and allow extra seating under trees away from the main hustle and bustle. The food was both well presented and well cooked, we loved the local themes and appreciated the help with wine choices, again local. In summary we loved this small but carefully restored old farm house. It sits very well amidst the rugged Minorcan landscape, a true oasis and one of the best hotels we have have stayed in. We will certainly recommend it.

It's hard for me to avoid hyperbole when describing this place, so let me put it mildly: This is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. Hands down.

A beautifully restored historical building, with plenty of space to sit and unwind, maybe have a glass of wine. Perfectly manicured grounds. Coquettish rooms. The nicest, genuinely helpful staff. Complete absence of holier-than-thou attitude sometimes present in boutique hotels. The BEST location on the island: Minutes (by car) from the Macarella and Macarelleta beaches, which many say are among the best in the Mediterranean, and from which you can continue on foot to the string of other small beaches on the Camí de Cavalls - an ancient path that encircles the island. Minutes from Cuitadella – a gem of a town.

If I was to look for faults, the only thing that comes to mind is that the breakfast (thou excellent quality) gets a bit repetitive after a while. Peccata minuta.

Like I said, hard to avoid hyperbole.
I’m already planning a trip back.

Room Tip: Get a room in the main house if you can.

We spent a week here as the base for a walking holiday. Victoria Bendito (who runs the hotel) and her staff made us feel very welcome and were also available to give us information or answer any queries. We had one of the three rooms (all with terraces) situated on the first floor of the main house. We stayed on a half board basis and each day a menu was left in our room (choice of 2 starters, mains and desserts) from which we chose our meal for the evening. This worked very well and also gave us the opportunity to try some Menorcan dishes (for example, I'd not tried stuffed squid or cuttlefish before). Good wine list with a fair number of Menorcan wines to try at very reasonable prices. We particularly appreciated the breakfast - a good cold and hot selection and a variety of pastries, bread and fruit which changed each day - a real plus not to be presented with the same things all week long. We certainly intend to go back.

We stayed at the Hotel for one week in early September. The location is lovely although you need a car if you dont want to eat in the hotel every night. The rooms, grounds and pool were well looked after. The hotel staff were discreet but helpful. At breakfast there was a good selection of food with something for everyone and excellant coffee. We ate in the hotel on three evenings and the food was ok but would recommend a trip into Ciudadella (the hotel staff will give you recommendations). Cafe Balear was particularly good. If you want a quiet hotel in the Minorcan countryside then this hotel fits the bill.

This Hotel is in a very quiet, secluded spot in a very scenic location. The Staff are very friendly and helpful; the Restaurant is good; the swimming pool location is fantastic! So good we have stayed for a week for the last two years. Only slight drawback in the fact that the Hotel is located down a small lane - but this ensures it is quiet!

Room Tip: We paid slightly more for the Suite - well worth the extra!

We took a couple of days out of our Fornell's based holiday, so we could thoroughly explore Ciutadella, and the surrounding coast. We arrived at the hotel to find a lovely restored farmhouse in a very quiet and peaceful setting. Our room was spacious, clean with a private balcony. The swimming pool is in a beautiful garden setting, with plenty of sunbeds, and views over the coastline of Mallorca. We were very happy with our choice until dinner which was bizarre and very disappointing. Strangely out of a full hotel of guests, there were only three couples dining, and one table of non residents. We sat and had a drink on the terrace expecting a menu which was not forthcoming. So we moved to our table for dinner, to be served an odd meal with no menu, no choice, and a very unbalanced meal. After a hot soup we were presented with a bowl of risotto with lumps of fatty meat and bones. It was quite horrible. Expecting a main course of fish or meat to follow, I pushed it to one side. To my dismay the next course was a huge solid lump of chocolate cake, without even any fruit or cream to help it down. Would use the hotel again, but certainly only on B&B, and would eat out in the evening. Breakfast was a much nicer experience with plenty of choice. All in all, charming, peaceful hotel, and had we had a good dinner would have rated it excellent.
