We stayed at this lovely place for the 5th time last summer and have already booked to go back this August! I never thought I would continue returning to the same place so many times ...life is too short not to explore....but this really is a special place for us and we return each year to see the lovely people that we have met over the years...some of whom have been going for 15+ years! We know of several other groups of people who also return at different times in the summer year after year. The hotel must be doing something very special if so many people want to return. I won't repeat all the things I've said before...you can read back on my old reviews for that!
The hotel has been gradually revamping the accomodation....I have to be honest...it was needed. Half the apartments were changed into junior suites and completely refurbed for summer 2012 and the other half have stayed as apartments with a kitchen and been refurbed during this winter ready for summer 2013. We booked in January and all the apartments were already gone....so if you haven't yet booked I doubt you would get the school hols this year but you could book for next!
I think the things that make this place so special are:
1. The staff. A more friendly hard working bunch would be hard to find. They make everyone feel special and really want to make your stay enjoyable. The same staff are there year upon year...they must enjoy it too!
2. The lovely pools and spacious grounds.
3. Lovely safe environment for children. It's NOT a 'super family' type of complex.....there are no wall to wall creches....all day ice creams.......free swim nappies... but there are lovely children's facilities, low key entertainment....and kid's club staff who make your children feel special and welcome!
4. The location. Far enough from the Marina to be quiet....near enough to walk there in just 10 mins. Only 2 mins out the back gate from a lovely beach with a few shops/bars/restaurants there too.
That's about it in a nutshell.......we can't wait to get back there.
Any questions please feel free to ask!

Room Tip: Even number aparts/junior suites face the pools...great if you like to watch the world go by.....odd...

We went to his hotel in August 2012. Our first holiday abroad since having our kids (they were 6 and 3 when we travelled). The hotel was fab! We booked self catering with Thomas Cook but paid direct to the hotel on arrival for half board. Made it easier with the kids. The grounds are very well kept. Plenty of sunbeds. Fantastic pools! Staff soooo friendly and helpful and the waitors love the kids! Room was nice. Double bedroom and sofa beds in the living area. Small kitchen (which we didn't really use) and a nice bathroom. Food was fantastic and a good variety every night. Only a 2 minute walk to the beach. They ran a kids club (which we didn't really use) but you could go in with your kids and let them use the bouncy castle. They also ran adult activities which was nice - no hassle to join in though - very laid back. Kids and adult pool activities every afternoon - again - not 'in your face'. Overall a fantastic holiday and would definitely return.

I stayed here with my boyfriend and his parents the second week in September 2012 for a week. We travelled with Thomas Cook and transfer from the airport was slow, being stuck on the coach in Mahon airport waiting for other flights to arrive before we could leave! Transfer took just under an hour, and this hotel was one of the last drop offs on the route.

Check in was quick and simple, the staff being very friendly and interested about our journey and where we had come from etc. Our rooms were very close to reception which meant they were a little noisier than those hidden away, but still not too much of a problem. The view from our room was absolutely stunning, overlooking the pool through a frame of palm trees. The gorgeous weather made it even more special.

It was around lunchtime so we went to the poolside bar for lunch which was lovely and of a very good price considering it was within the hotel. We then had our first walk down to Cala'n Bosch centre. At first the walk seemed quite long as you are right up the end of the "strip". However the more you walk it the quicker it seems. The pavements are slightly unsteady however so be careful especially if you have a pushchair or small children. I would also reccommend walking on the right hand side of the road as this is better lit at night times.

Cala'n Bosch, like most of Menorca I'm told, is the more family friendly of the Balearics, but at the time we went we didn't come across many families with children at all, with hardly any at the hotel either. The marina is lovely with lots of restaurants and bars and everyone is really friendly. On our first night we visited the outdoor bar of the Hotel Valentin Star with it's really comfy chairs and amazing selection of drinks. Along with nightly entertainment (including a Robbie tribute on our last night!!!!) it was our favourite spot. We didn't stay in the Hotel for entertainment much as we prefer to go out of an evening after dinner, so I can't really comment on this.

Food was of a good quality in the hotel, and service was impeccable. You could choose where you wanted to sit and a waiter/waitress would be with you within seconds. Some people on here are complaining about the choice of food...that's actually ridiculous. There was SO much choice every night!! At least 2 types of meat, a fish, potatoes, chips, veg, pizza, bread, pasta, rice, paella... my personal fave being the ice cream with wide choice of sprinkles and toppings ;) Breakfast was equally as good, I favoured the wide choice of bread...yes I did put on weight while here, so there's your warning!

Our room was of a good standard, very large for a hotel of this size, and the bed was comfy- a first! We had a TV with lots of English channels so we could catch up with the news before going to dinner every night. The bathroom was lovely with a very good sized bath and continuous hot water. Room service was great, always kept clean and tidy. We also had a balcony with a table and chairs, and a rack to dry our towels. Was lovely sitting there taking in the evening sun before going down to dinner, watching everyone in the pool.

The pool itself was also brill, and we always found 4 sunloungers together. It may be more of a struggle in the height of the holiday season, but the hotel seemed pretty busy. There are loads of spares stacked up around the pool should more be needed. Some people dragged theirs into the grassy areas but we favoured the pool. The pool was a little bracing but once in you were fine. It was of a large size and nice and deep in the middle. There is a smaller pool up from the main one, and a jacuzzi just up from that which made a nice change. All of the pools were very clean. The main pool is kind of sectioned off with a bridge, and families with children respectfully used this area of the pool for their children which worked really well, and meant everyone staying at the hotel could use the pool without worrying about splashing or knocking into children.

We played tennis twice whilst here, and wasn't a problem to organise from reception. I can't remember how much extra it was but it wasn't a lot. We got quite competitive...woops...

Overall I would definitely reccommend this hotel to all kinds of parties; couples, families with children, groups of friends looking for a relaxing hotel. It's not a "party" hotel so don't go here if you're looking to get on it every night. I think that's the vibe of Menorca...much more chilled than it's partying neighbour. Lush!

Happy travelling!!!

Stayed here at the end of September for 2 weeks, our 3rd visit spread over some 14 years .
Half board and once again not disappointed in any way .
Over the years having traveled all over the world there are certain Hotels that you could safely recommend to anyone and the Princesa Playa is definitely one .
Food excellent ,rooms spotlessly clean ,staff friendly , no shortage of sunbeds , entertainment very good .
The only small complaint I could have would be that the pool was quite cold , and we went swimming in the sea most days which was warmer .
Nice walks along the coastal path to Cala n Bosch marina and even farther to the Lighthouse.
Though its not the cheapest hotel in the resort its definitely (in my opinion)) the best .

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view and have sunshine on the balcony all day long.

For our first holiday abroad with our 3 year old daughter we chose the Princesa Playa as we had read many good reviews about this hotel. We were not disappointed. This hotel ticked all our boxes. We stayed on a half board basis and found the food to be good quality with something for everyone. The pool area was perfect for families with young children. Our room was spotlesslely clean and had a superb view of the pool. The hotel staff were friendly and halpful and the entertainment team worked tirelessly, day and night to ensure great fun was had by all. The nearby beach was beautiful and another short walk away was Cala'n bosch beach and marina. We will definitely be back and would recommend this hotel to families of all ages.
