“Great base, Good resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2009

Stayed at these apartments for 11 nights self catering. Although you can upgrade to H/B or A/I at anytime after your arrival we prefered to pick from a good choice of nearby restaurants for our evening meal. Some tour operators state that this hotel is 700 mtrs from the shops/restaurants etc where as in reality the main strip of the resort is no more than 100 mtrs from the hotel entrance and then stretching out to probably 700 mtrs to the other end of the strip, so if you dont want to walk far you are no more than 2 minutes from somewhere to eat/drink. Most of the bars have a TV which is a bit annoying but it is possible to find places that do not. On the whole there is a good choice of restaurants in the resort but after a while we started to ask for our 'Salad & CHIPS' to be replaced by vegetables and potatos which was never a problem. The quality of the food was good no matter what we chose to eat. Its well worth trying the daily menus on offer at most restaurants as they offer good food at very reasonable prices. Most of the time our evening meal for two was under 25 euros. The resort is also flat so walking around is easy. As stated in other revues the resort is very British and it can be difficult to find anything Spanish if that is what you want. We found that there was a lack of shops to browse round after our evening meal and there is no sea front promenade to walk along, so if you dont want to sit and drink for the rest of the night you run out of things to do after a while. All in all the resort caters well for all age groups, is safe and even with the bars with TV's can by no means be descibed as rowdy. This is stated to be the livelyist resort on the island but by most peoples standards it would be classed as quietish. The bus to Ciutadella costs 1.45 euro each way and takes about 20-25 mins. There are really only 2 cove type beaches big enough to go to if you want beach. Both very small. We found the best one was at Cala'n Blanes which is a 15 min flat walk from hotel with a gentle slope downwards for the last 100 mtrs.Enough of the resort and back to the apartments. Decor a bit dated but on a par with most apartments in this very reasonable price range. We had a ground floor apartment which had room at both front and back to sit out in private, fantastic. Kept very clean by the hard working maids, towels were changed at least every other day and our bed was changed 3 times during our 11 night stay. Kettle and toaster and 2 ring hob are the cooking facilities which were fine for us as we only had breakfast and a cold lunch at the apartment. Everything in the apartment worked including a very good shower and hot water arrangement. Beds had sprung mattresses so were very comfortable. TV if you want that kind of thing. Strong box would be better if it was a safe and a little cheaper than 24 euros a week. No air con but with patio front and back you could get a good breeze blowing through the apartment so didn't really get too hot. The complex comprises of a hotel with 3 stories and 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. The pool area is very good with loads of comfortable sunbeds. We had no problem at all with the sunbeds as there were so many. I cant comment on the entertainment or other things offered by the hotel as we tend to do our own thing. No late night noise though which can be a problem sometimes when a hotel also has apartments. All the staff we came into contact with were very good. There were people of all ages staying here and certainly from our point of view the apartments had everything we needed. The location is close to everything you will need while being far enough from the resort centre to be quiet when you wanted it to be. For people who are self catering like us there is a well stocked supermarket 75 mtrs from the apartments with a wide range of goods and not over priced. Hopefully if you have managed to read my revue this far you will find it useful. I have tried to cover all the things I like to know about a place before I go so that there are no nasty surprises. I have described things as accurately as possible. We had a great time at these apartments and found that the resort seemed to be a good place for all ages to have a holiday. I have no problem recommending these apartments and would return again in the future.

This hotel was brilliant, everywhere was always clean and well kept, we stayed in the hotel part and the rooms were very modern and comfortable.
The pool areas were lovely and plenty of sun loungers available for everyone, we never struggled to get one.
The food was fine, i am quite a fussy eater and always found something, the breakfasts were particularly good, worth getting up for. staff were very friendly and helpful too.
the location of the hotel is brilliant. the aquapark is literally over the road. the main strip of shops, bars and restaurants is a 2 minute walk away too.
the beaches are also about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. the main calan forcat beach is very very small with a lot of bathing platforms built into the cliffs, this is a great place to relax and the water is so clear and still. the other "beach" has no sand and it is all pretty high bathing platforms. probably not suitable for young children. but we had a fantastic time jumping off the cliffs into the sea!
all in all no complaints and anyone who is going to this hotel will have a fantastic time like we did! happy holidays :)

Before I start waffling on about the apartment, let me say that this ISN'T a complaint. We had a fantastic time at the Los Delphines complex. This holiday costs us next to nothing and knowing full well we were staying in a 2 star apartment, we were not expecting that much. The apartments are very basic. We requested a ground floor apartment on booking due to the fact that my wife has difficulties walking. This was no problem. We were fortunate to have fantastic weather, which made the rooms incredibly hot and with no Air Con, the 20 euro's per week to hire a fan was a necessity, although I felt a little ripped off. Together with the safety deposit box hire 20 euro's a week and kettle hire 11 euros per week (no kettle ???? What's that about??) i'd spent 100 euros in my first hour.
The apartment was kept clean and tidy with daily clean towels, bedding etc. The food here is good. Not the best i've ever had, but good choice and cooked well. The entertainment here was very good compared to some of the rubbish i've seen over the years. Tony & Nicole (the main two entertainers) were excellent. Games for adults and kids thro' the day and shows, games and bingo and night. Yes bingo!!!. Don't worry, it's only one game and the prize for a full house was approx 120 euro's each night. Tony makes it really entertaining and the kids can play. We stayed the last two weeks of the kids holidays and I would say that it was 95% British. The actual resort of Los Delphines is also very British. A bit too British for me. Football on a every bar, 'Full English Breakfast' at every restaurent etc.

We had a great time here and would certainly go back. Although next time, I would look into stopping in the Hotel Los Delphines which is in the same complex as the apartments and shares the same facilities. More expence I would have thought, but having looked in one of the rooms at the hotel, well worth the extra money.

Went to hotel los Delfines Menorca 23rd Aug 2009 for 2 weeks, the hotel has 2 distinct sectionsThe main hotel is A/I the other 3 blocks are S/C, I was in the main hotel and found the room good and clean, beds made every day, I was also on the top floor ( 3rd) and NOT facing the pools, this I found tobe best as it was quiet if you needed to get to bed early ( I had a 9 year old with me) or sleep late. All in all I could NOT fault the room but others in the s/c blocks did complain of poor rooms. Please noteyou could be A/I but still in the S/C blocks. And main hotel has free air con but S/C blocks had to rent fans. Food I found very good most days, some days everything seemed to be fish (I don't like fish) but still found something to eat, not always as hot as I would like but there are microwaves if you want to re-heat.The so called "snacks" are in the restaurant after meals and its cold chips cold burgers and cold sausage with little else, ice creams you pay for except meal times when you can get a small tub in the restaurant for the kids. The bar was about the only thing that people complained about, there was NO glasses no matter what you had to drink, all plastic cheap party type,( but then the bars are by the pools so its understandable ) A/I could only have 1/2 pints if you want a pint ( still plastic) you had to pay, the bar staff were friendly but did not rush so expect long queue most of the time, the barman at the pool bar was slow , and would often just walk away from the bar and go to the hotel for 1/2 hour leaving the bar unattended, it was quicker to walk to the main bar at the hotel than wait for him to serve you. Keep an eye on your kids in the pool yourself as sometimes the "lifeguard" was not always attentive, mind you it was funny when he fell Off his chair asleep lol, The animation team tried hard but could be just a little to much in the day, you will get a little pi**ed off with the "blast of music" ( same tune every time) when they want you to join in with their games, but I could not fault them with the kids or the night entertainment. To sum up a nice place, good hotel ( well my bit was) and food you can eat.

Firstly, the hotel - it was oky, not awful but not amazing just good and very much value for money if you go half-board (which we did). Based on the food i would not recommend all inclusive, its just not worth it - but it would be worth it for the drinks (and to have fruit juice at breakfast). Food drifts between very nice and plain average, sometimes warm sometimes cold (the pasta was always one or the other, but never quite warm enough). Some of the meat choices were a bit weird, and the unfilleted fish will put some of you off. You can make a plate of it, but it doesnt match (bit of a patchwork tea really). But, the food is edible and we never had any stomach trouble which is always a bonus. Breakfast just about average, the bacon only being cooked on half of its surface is a bit strange but if you want cereal/fruit/bread you'll be happy. Maitre'D very friendly, but the waitress with the weird hair was very abrupt "Drink!!!" made her sound like a spanish Father Jack and "Finished!!" when taking plates was just plain rude. Hotel very clean elsewhere, rooms clean although bed sheets a bit worn and dirty. The safe is a bit old but it works and its worth having for peace of mind rather than leaving your valuables lying around. Air-con very good when you're not moving, keeps you cool at night and chilled in the day. The pool closest to the hotel section is very nice and kept spotless, and there are plenty of sunbeds to choose from.

The Shop & Sail excursion is a must, well worth 40 euros of anyones money. Mahon is a lovely city and the boat cruise is very nice as is the gin distellery, although the Modas leather show is just weird (whats with the pics of Jasper Carrot?).

Plenty of bars and shops, and the coves/bays are lovely but the main place to go at night has to be Plaza Domingo just to see Nico keep the audience in check and make sure you show your appreciation for the tribute acts (elvis and the temptations for example). The atmosphere in this place is great and the sangria goes down very nicely, proper little treat it is - also if you can catch Nicos Beatles tribute you should (i think John would approve).

Its also worth getting the service bus to Ciudadella, there and back works out at about 3 and a half euros each and its a nice way to spend the day.

I would echo the sentiments regarding Thomas Cooks luggage allowance, it just isnt enough for a grown person and if you're at the back of the queues they do pick you out and charge you once everyone else has gone (so speaks the voice of experience).

But that doesnt ruin the fact that its a lovely place and i would recommend it to anyone.
