We have just returned from our third year at Vista Blanes and we plan to book for next year. Yes the apartments are standard self catering, but are adequate for a familes needs. I can honestly say we feel right at home. During our holidays we have met lots of other couples that feel the same and return year after year.

The receptionists are helpful, the site shop workers cheerful, the bar staff were friendly and welcoming. They remembered us from previous visits and we had some giggles with them while practising our Spanish!

The location is perfect just a few minutes to the nearest beach Cala'n Blanes with two other beaches within a half an hour walk. The are plenty of other sites, such as old buildings and carvings in the rock if you don't mind exploring. Snorkel at Cala'n Forcat and diving at Cala'n Bosh is a must!! The sunbathing area around the pool is spacious and we always found a sun bed without feeling too crammed in.

Plenty to do for all ages; there are caves to explore, ruins to see, forts to explore, shopping, snorkelling, scuba diving, play grounds, Water Parks, the Zoo, bouncy castles. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Los Delfines and don't forget to visit Mr Beps for very good quality and reasonably priced food. The old capital Ciutadella is only a 30-40 min walk along the beautiful coastal road or by the regular bus service.

It may be an idea to hire a car before you for or sightseeing as it was £100 for two days once there. A must see is Cala Macarella and Cala Macarelleta. This year we found some amazing prehistoric caves and the most stunnign beahces I have ever seen.

A big thanks to our holiday rep. Francesca for her help during our stay and also the receptionist for being helpful when we lost our key and the children were close to tears.

We could honestly have moved in and stayed forever!

To start with the title reflects the 'where abouts' this place actually is, its NOT the 15min walk to the "strip" in cala n forcat / delfines, its at best 25~30mins (and when its hot like it was in august) it's like chinese torture. The pool was very murcky and kids were dropping like flys with ear infections (beware, our tip take some SWIM EAR with you), although the pool was great on the realy hot days, other reviews have said it's like a jeremy kyle show. . . . . . . . . IT IS !!!!!!. you people who go on holiday just to scream at your kids AND partners realy need to take a long hard look at yourselves (are you not ashamed of yourselves ????) and to quote the saying of the fortnight "IF YOU DO THAT ONE MORE TIME, YOUR GETTIN OUT OF THE POOL AND GOING TO THE ROOM ". And funnily enough the 'PROBLEM' kids all seemed to be named ALFIE ??????. Anyway the complex ~ The rooms ARE basic, full of ants, squeaky 3rd bed (settee), fan in bedroom useless and when 3 people are sharing a room don't you need three balcony chairs to relax at night???, The receptionist WE found very helpfull and polite ~ looked a little like carol decker from t'pau !!!, The bar / restraunt ~ waiters/bar staff VERY rude and do sometimes throw your food at the table (having said that the salads with the meals we found great ~ lettuce, tom, onion, sweetcorn and carrot (and free chips!!)) also the pasta was nice and also the chicken breast. The complex as a whole isn't worth the '3stars' thomson give it, outside the reception is a sign giving it '2keys', we wouldn't give it that we would give it '1cockroach' . The area . . . . . . . . We read on the other reviews that CHURCHILLS staff were arrogant we found both the men who served us very pleasant and cheery (didnt eat there only had a drink at night). Calan forcat / delfines the only place to go at night really would like to recommend ~ HIATI , CUORE and BAR SIXTY ONE these are the places to go for a great meal (1st two) and a good laugh and drink (last one).
All in all ~ We wouldn't go back here unless we won it on a jeremy kyle show (thats not gunna happen). The cove is gorgeous and warm water (beware of the jellyfish). Try the bars and restraunts in forcat / blanes. Check how much a taxi is going to cost before you get in as we didn't pay the same on several different days to the same place

Room Tip: Try to get a room not facing pool as 'troubled kids' use the pool till the lights go out. D...

they say you get what you pay for , well it cost us £3300 for 10 days for a family of 7 , the apartments are very basic , ants galore in my wifes apartments , fans in the bedroom useless , none in the living / bedroom , the shop onsite wasn't too costly , the staff in the staff were very nice and friendly ,the bar staff were rude to be honest , one of them from the talyout the year before , was still down right miserable , but lets face it i dont tip mardy gits , the pool was lovely shame about the sun bed towel monkeys who get up at 6am then go back to bed while 11am , then have the cheek to complain there towels where moved when some else with kids take the shaded sun beds ..also peoples kids in pool while 12 at night , the bars and restaurants are a good 20 minute walk the little ones , so saying all this i will not be going back to the vista blanes apartments no matter how cheap they are

Room Tip: dont bother

These apartments seemed to have scooped up all of the disabled and ADHD children and parents that belong on the Jeremy Kyle show and dumped them all in one place. They spend most of their time over-creaming their chubby kids as if they were going to complete a cross channel swim. The apartments where hotter than the centre of the earth with no air conditioning, only a ceiling fan that was as much use a being breathed on by a mouse! Great if you need to lose a few pound, you can sweat into the bug infested mattress. If you work for rentokill it will be like a bus man's holiday for you as the ants and cockroaches will keep you busy for 2 weeks. Not to mention the maids bring in more hair than they sweep up, all kinds of hair if you know what I mean. The room was not ready on arrival, strange because they knew I was coming as I booked it in January. The woman at reception has had a sense of humour by pass as she didn't understand my sarcasm. The Thomson rep (some over tanned northern twenty something) shouted at us for about an hour on the welcome meeting, we sat through it but we have no idea what she was saying! Her kids rep counterpart mumbled on for about 15 mins and we have no idea what she said either.  What we did find out though, is that you need to be up about 6am to get a decent place around the pool, as Dads are sent out early to secure an army of sunbeds for Mum, Dad, Auntie, Nana, Grandad, ..... You get the picture, I can only suggest that they sit so close together so that they don't have to pass their cigarettes too far. The Bar/Restaurant on site is good if you want your meal thrown at you, and the entertainment leaves much to be desired, on the second night, what can only be described as a Chinese Robbie Williams impersonator rattles on for about two hours and in that time twice as many people left than went in. (I didn't go in) However if you are staying for 2 weeks, don't worry as if you missed him the first week for some reason they booked him again for the next week. The shop on site is well stocked and reasonably priced with a rather cute Penelope Cruz lookalike. Papers don't come till about mid day, but its got mostly everything you need albeit it's the size of your front room! The one thing that the Northern rep did give us was a street map which is useful for short cuts to Los Dolphines until you get used to it, it's about a 15 minute walk, great tanning opportunity, you my have to dodge the dog pooh along the way! Churchills is an English pub abroad, just outside the apartments  however, it has approximate opening times, over priced drinks and lacks atmosphere, but if you are in the mood for being on your own for a while, it's the place for you. The Bar man Richard does struggle to do two things at once like Food and Drink orders! Park Aire  - If you have all the time in the world, go there. It will take you the rest of your life to get served, and all the screaming kids in Menorca and their Kylesque parents are there. It has lots of stuff for kids to do, but there are no health and safety precautions in place here!
Wifi is available across most bars and restaurants, tis give you a chance to catch up and let your kids scream with the others.
Pirates Cove is under rated. Restaurant on the beach, great views, very calm,  good food and service. Excellent Mojitos!
Tropical Kiss - A welcoming host (Lewis)  the bar gets better the later you arrive, the KAREOKE is very funny with X Factor style auditions, Lewis is guaranteed to sing "Angels" at 9pm. Southern Comforts are amazing with no measurements which means you can get quite drunk! The Black Horse is a chip-shop-come-pub all in one, but sit out side as the fryers might literally cook you, but the beer and wine is cheap and good. €4.50 for a pint and a glass of wine In summary the weather has been amazing, (the hottest August for 30 years fact!)  and we have had a great time, but it's just not for me and I guess if you like Butlins, Jeremy Kyle, chips with everything and parents constantly shouting at their children you will love it. Would I go back ............? I don't think you need me to answer that!

We have just arrived back. Sadly this area of Menorca has been hit by the recession, They only decent place to eat close by was Mr Beps - incredibly reasonable - 3 courses 8 Euro and it was of a very good quality. the only other place to eat was Pirates Cove which we found to be expensive and the quality not too good. You could walk or catch the bus to Cala n'Forcat but again recession hit - the shopping centre was closed down and the only shops were ticky tacky souviner shops and the choice of restaurants was very limited and expensive. A bus journey to Cuitadella was needed to access shops and better restaurants (which was worth doing!)
Vista Blanes was not suitable for our family - this is the only place in the world i have been where the Manager flatly refused to give us a second key for the room - we have 4 children aged 8, 12, 14, and 18 - the key is essential for us to give to our 18 year old so he can stay out until the early hours whilst we take the younger children back around midnight - he often had to take a 30minute bus journey back from Cuitadella with us so that he could get the key and return back to the pubs/clubs, the managers response to this was to 'leave our door open' this man obviously has not heard the Madeline McCann story!!!!
the room was incredibly basic and in reality you could not cook meals if you wanted too, the place was continually infested with ants - we bought cereal for breakfast and had to throw it away virtually daily - we even resorted to storing it in the microwave but the ants still got in there. The rooms needed modernising to be fair and air con should also be installed, our younger children struggled to sleep - we had to rent a fan from them to make the children more comfortable!!!!!
the on site bar served until midnight but plunged you into complete darkness at 12.01 which was a complete health and safety issue - i understand they didn't want people loitering however when i tackled the manager and suggested they turn them off half an hour after finishing serving his response was rude and obnoxious - he said 'take it up to your room if you dont like it' - i obviously looked liked cinderella!! the plus side was that Francesca the Rep did everything in her power to make sure you had a great holiday
In essence i would not recommend this destination/hotel the recession made it difficult to access food/shops. These apartments need to look at upgrading the decor and maybe look at all inclusive until more restaurants open in the area.

the staff where very helpful, wouldn't eat on site as there were too many ants which put me off my food, towards the end of my holiday ants swarmed our apartment, not a place to go with teenagers as there is nothing for them to do, my twins where really bored, the only thing that this place had going for it was the weather, the beach was in a cove which is quite quaint but very over crowded and was a 3 minute walk, Calan for'cat was approx 15 min walk to start of it was nice but got very tedious every day, we went into cuitadella found burger king nice to have a meal but very expensive for for fast food, the apartment should not be called self catering as you cannot cook anything unless you fry it as only 2 rings didn't trust the cleaners as there had been reports of items going missing, and one night sound asleep got woken up by people being very loud it worked out that seine had jumped over the balcony the police was called , when we enquired what had happened someone tryed to rob someone but the police didn't seem too bothered about it as the robber was long gone, this is a place I wod never go back too,
