highly recommended. macarella is charming, (if you arrive early) but macarelleta is much more charming. a relative easy 10-15 minute walk that we did in flip flops. beautiful fine sand, clean waters and a relaxing energy. and the 5 euros for nearby parking is definitely worth it so you can spend more time on the beach!

Walked here with my fiancée on the basis that this area is high on the trip advisor list. I can't see what the fascination is. We parked at Cala Galdana and walked the route to Macarella and Macareletta.
The reviews are right that its not advisable to do the journey in flip flops, a good pair of trainers are needed for it.
I think I expected this place to be a lot less busy given the 20 - 30 minute walk to it, but when we arrived on Macarella to find about 3 feet of space to park our towels, I was a little disappointed. It was the same at Macareletta, very crowded, very busy. I don't know what previous reviewers have been talking about, regarding lack of facilities, at the side of Macarella beach there's a cafe.
We were so disappointed that we stayed for 15 minutes and left.
Whilst on the island we visited lots of beautiful beaches that better this one, Es Grau was amazing, Binibecca Nou equally, and even the commercial beaches like Cala N Porter, Punta Prima etc were just as nice with a lot less hassle to get there

You can either use a free parking and take a 20 mins walk to Cala Macarella or pay 5 EUR to park much closer and walk only about 5 mins to the beach. From Cala Macarella, you continue on the path on the right side of the beach and before you get round the corner, you can admire stunning views of Cala Macarella. After another 10 mins (it depends on how many photos you take during the walk), you see from above this little gem surrounded by pine-fringed rocks. We were there around 5 pm when the sun started to move behind the rocks and the beach was getting overshadowed, so next time we would go there much earlier.

A lovely beach we walked to from Cala Galdanda. Well worth the trek, the steps aren't that bad and the beach is a nice secluded beach popular with the locals.

Whilst staying in Cala Galdana we chose to visit Macarella. The walk is well signposted and adjacent to the Audax Hotel. The complete route is well marked out with excellent viewing spots to enable photography. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk there which culminated in steps down to the beach. The lovely natural bay was well frequented but not crowded. Restaurant Susi beside the beach provides any food and refreshment you may require (and toilet facilities). The steps back (some 219 in number I am informed) take you back to Cala Galdana. All ages seem to tackle this walk successfully, however, the steps back up could prove difficult for the less able. Wear sensible shoes, wouldn't recommend flip flops for this one.
