“Service a little too quick!”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

We were the first diners but our courses came so quickly; almost like a fast food restaurant. My wife had rabbit, which she really liked; I had a traditional rural meat dish, which was a little bland and disappointing. Desert and carajillo was vey good and overall price was quite reasonable! Will give it another chance, with a different choice of main course.

“Very Good Restaurant”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Palma Restaurant centrally located. We were a group of 20 people and ate typical Mallorcan dishes. Excellent quality at a very good price. The service was excellent. We were very happy. We recommend it.

“Big portions, tasty food, good value for money”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Went there to eat a late night dinner with my boyfriend. Ordered (what we thought would be) appetizer size Land and sea salad and Frit Mallorqui (liver, potatoes and peas) and for main course Llom amb col (pork, cabbage, raisins) and Seepia. Salad split for two and one main course would have been enough.
We were a bit envious at the couple in the table, they were smart enough to order the menu of the day.
Seepia was huge, but tasty. Frit Mallorqui was delicious but a bit heavy for appetizer. Llom amb col was excellent, really fell in love with the dish.
Good service, good food. Would recommend. Really good value for money.

“The snails were so good, I went back to have them again”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

There are times in Palma when you want to be in the hustle and bustle of Passeg des Born or Placa D'en Coll, people-watching and enjoying the buzz.

And there are times when you want a little, friendly, place with only a few outside tables in a quiet little backwater to sit at length over a good meal with just your thoughts for company. This place is for those days.

Placed in a little open placa under the imposing front of S. Francesc, half a dozen outside tables and about a dozen inside, this is great for those heavy, limpid evenings after a very hot day, as the street lamps come on and the air cools.

They offer, unusually for Palma, a fixed-price evening menu, at €20. And what a menu. They call it the Menu Degustacion; The service is sympathetic, and with my very poor spanish and their better english, we established after I'd tried to order two courses from the board that it runs over seven (yes, seven) courses, bread olives and wine for that price.

I ate -
Caracoles (snails in broth with sausage & pork meat, pepers, onions), bread, Alli-Oli.
Manzanas Caramelizados con Sobrasada (Caramelised apples with Sobrasada sausage)
Frito Mallorquin (potatoes, onions, peas, liver, kidney)
Frito Payes (mixed vegetables in sauce)
Cabalao Alli-Oli (cod roasted on potatoes under a crust of browned garlic mayonnaise)
Ternera Payes ( slices of veal steak in thin mustard cream sauce)
Coconut cake with apricots baked on surface, coconut cream, strawberry coulis

All delicious. And with a beer before, a glass of Rosado with, and a cafe cortado after, and a tip, I paid €25.

This was obviously too much, because they brought me a free glass of hierbas liqueur after I'd paid.

I think the fixed-price deal is on weekdays; I went back on Saturday and had the snails again (but a larger serving than in the degustacion menu) follwoed by Rabbit - two large legs in a thickly reduced red-wine sauce, with garlic, potato and aubergine. Had a huge gin-lemon ('Pomada') before 2 glasses good red with, cafe cortado - €35 including tip. The most I paid for a meal on this trip, and worth every cent.

By the way, if you're going to have the Menu Degustacion, you'd better order before 10.00 to allow time for it all to come out of the kitchen.

“Lovely cafe restaurant in heart of old town”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

Portic (which we dubbed 'Maria's') quickly became our home away from home in Palma. Managed by the lovely Maria and her husband Tony the food was great and the service too. You are in for a treat if 'Noi' is serving (and her english is excellent). The food is authentic Mallorcan and delicious, and you'll want to save room for desert. The rabbit i had on the last night was indeed one of the best meals I've had.
One evening after a 45 minute search for somewhere to eat (public holiday), seven of us arrived back at Portic as they were packing away. Without hesitation they whipped the tables back out and dinner was served. It's a lovely place.
