Have always preferred small hotels as you usually get better attention and here was no different. Staff willing to dish out best places to see and to eat at and did a good job of replenishing the breakfast goods every morning and all with a smile. Cleaners came in every day to put fresh towels and tidy round the white washed "fresh" looking bedroom we were allocated which had plenty of space and good quality bedding and toiletries. Short walk into the shops and nice and quiet during the night so decent sleeps. If you want to be in the heart of the action maybe choose another location but for a good clean hotel at a good price this is brilliant.

As a solo female traveller, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at HM Balanguera in Palma. Although not situated right in the city centre (an enjoyable 10-15 minute walk away) I still found it easy to navigate to and from and felt safe during my 3 day stay. With regards to the room itself, I was a huge fan of the minimalistic contemporary design. The fresh white interior decor made the room feel light, clean and comfortable.  The beanbags on the rooftop pool area provided a great place to relax post sightseeing and it was surprisingly quiet. The staff were friendly and attentive and the breakfast had a decent selection. Overall a great relaxed atmosphere and fantastic value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Our 3rd. time to Mallorca and 2nd. time staying in Palma. Last time we stayed in a big hotel which was also very nice but I personally preferred this hotel. It is small and very clean and well maintained in all areas. We arrived late on a Friday night and the lady on reception was very warm and checked us in quickly with no time wasted. The room was cool (in both senses of the word)! and the bed beautifully made up with fresh, white sheets and was so comfortable it was a challenge to drag ourselves out of it in the morning. We noticed how quiet it was despite being right in the city. Enjoyed eating breakfast every morning, and you can sit out in the lounge part and eat there if you want to, so it was very relaxed and more enjoyable somehow. Met a couple of nice fellow hotel guests who also said they loved the relaxed feeling of the hotel. Taxis to and from the airport or beach are cheap and you can access the majority of the city by foot. If you want any city tips the reception staff are helpful and they all speak English very well. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for large families with small children but I do recommend it highly for friends and couples.

Stayed for 5 nights from 24th-June with my boyfriend and like it here more than most modern hotels we´ve stayed at before. Felt very welcoming and they give a good personal service. Rooms are minimalistic but tastefully done and it was all spotless. Quiet at night so good sleep quality. Lovely big shower. Good breakfast with nice choices and in a relaxed setting which everyone seemed to be enjoying. Location is good and the city centre is walkable (10-15 minutes) .... by the way; I see that another reviewer says that the Cathedral is the city centre and that is not correct info!!! ... and to walk to the cathedral takes more than 35 minutes and not 20 minutes unless you plan to run! Thought we got good value for our money and we recommend it.

The average and poor reviews were spot-on. Make sure you read them before booking a room at the HM Balanguera.

Upon arrival we were impressed with the decor, music, smell and friendly welcome of this new hotel. The rooms were small, but modern, clean, and tastefully done. Everyone who works there (night and day) is kind and helpful- all the reviewers have said this, and it's true.

BUT...
Reviewers have also commented negatively. This was our experience:

1- make sure that before you accept the room it has all the amenities. We had no refrigerator and no Internet access (Rm 405). We complained and suggested a room change and so we were moved to Rm 305, which had a fridge but VERY weak Internet access. Resolving these issues took up most of the morning... Not something you want after a long flight and a short stay.

2- Internet: weak, but be aware that every time you wish to go online you have to punch in a long username & password, and every time you go off (or in our case, kicked us off), you have to go through the entire code process again. Could be frustrating for those who wish to work a little while away.

3- Reviewers mentioned that it is a long walk to town. The walk is about 20 minutes to the Cathedral area. Not too bad walking in, but is a long walk home at night after touring around.

4- The roof top terrace has nice city views, but cannot accommodate more than 10-15 guests at a time. The pool is a joke- more like a oversized tub: about 6 x 15 meters.

To end with a positive note, the breakfast was fantastic, best we've had in Europe. (Mimosas, assortment of cheese, eggs, yogurt, cereals, bacon, etc)

So, just read all TA reviews carefully. They are true.

Room Tip: From our experience corner rooms (i.e., 405, 305) have no or limited wifi.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay at HM Balanguera. The opinion and feedback of our clients is really important for us and is the best way to improve everyday.

We are aware of the issues with the Internet connection and are working on finding the best solution; I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. In regards to the rooftop terrace, this ambience was designed thinking of a place where ours guests can relax after a long day visiting Palma. Truly enough, the pool is perfect for a dip and not necessarily to swim, I am disappointed to learn that this did not live up to your expectations. I do hope that you were able to enjoy your visit to Palma and that we have the opportunity to welcome you back at HM Balanguera.

Best regards,
