TRYP Palma Bellver Hotel
Ranked #28 of 74 Hotels in Palma de Mallorca

Location is pretty good, right on the Maritimo (boulevard) in Palma, on walking distance to the city center. Parking garage right next to the hotel (subject to additional charge). The big downside, though, were the beds: really rock hard mattresses, so I did not sleep very well. On mentioning this to the reception, I was "offered" to buy up to a higher room category which would have other (softer) beds. However, I would expect to have good beds in the standard room when paying 80 euros a night. Would not recommend the standard rooms.

MY husband and I stayed at Tryp Belver in early september for 3 nights for our 25th wedding anniversary. The hotel is 20mins from airport by taxi, about 20 euros. The weather was in the 80's, the hotel was clean, service good, breakfast good but could have had more choice to cater for english visitors, mushrooms, tomatos and eggs would have been nice for full english breakfast! The breakfast is advertised as 17.50 euros but Reception offered us M.A.S,. free membership, a reward points style offer whereby breakfast became b.o.go.f. , much better value! We didnt sample dinner or the pool area though it looked clean and tidy. One downside of the hotel is that we were on the 3rd floor and at the front of the hotel the traffiic is quite noisy but lovely views of the marina.(tip:ask for a high floor). no problem with any smells or water pressure as mentioned by others. I agree with other reviews in that the white exterior of the hotel needs renovation but inside we couldnt fault it, we had a large room with big marble bathroom, more than adequate and I would class it as a 4 star. we did pay 20 euros extra per night for sea view, its nice but quite expensive.

The old town is 15 to 20 minute walk away, the Hard Rock Cafe is 5 to 10 mins away to the left of the hotel, and lots of restaurants in the old town especially. there are lots of lovely jewellery stalls open in the evenings along the front and in the old town. i do recommend the open top "hop on hop off" bus tour, a good couple of hours for about 13 euros each, it has a commentary and takes you to the castel belver where you can wander round the fort for a while before hopping back on the bus, well worth a visit, the views are wonderful.

the local buses are excellent value, 1.25 euros along the coast, we went to the beach at Illetes,25 mins on bus, which the receptionist recommended as a pretty beach where the locals go, nicer than cala mallor or palma nova, the beach has a restaurant right next to it, perfect sandy beach and shallow water for children.

also worth a trip is the wooden train to Soller, this was about 17 euros return each for an hour journey each way to the pretty town of Soller, we went on saturday which was market day, there is also an electric tram there which you use to visit the port but we didnt have time.

we had a lovely time in Palma, definitely would recommend it as a short break destination.

We normally stay at the Hotel Mirador next door to this hotel, but they were fully booked, and the Bellver is better. Check in was smooth - the lady on the desk spoke excellent English. We had asked for a room as high as possible - love the view over the harbour - and we were on the 10th floor. The room was fine - big bed and very clean. The floors were carpeted, which avoided the normal Spanish sound of furniture scraping over marble floors at all hours. The room fridge had see better days on the outside and as other reviewers had mentioned - the TV is old style.
Breakfast was included in our deal and wasn't bad - loads of cold choices and hot dishes of bacon, sausage and eggs.
Check out was smooth and for future reference they offer a deal at the car park next door, which gives quite a saving on the normal price.
Will definitely go back.

I stayed in this hotel for a long weekend. Yes, along with other reviews the hotel exterior looks like it could do with a bit of TLC however all the hotels along the marina front look slightly tired from the outside, I would say Tryp Bellvue is the best looking of the lot though!!

I would highly recommend spending that little bit more and getting the "Premium Double with a sea view". These rooms are large, comfortable, very clean, modern and have a big balcony with a perfect view of Palma Bay, Marina and the Cathedral. At night or day the view is rather breathtaking. I believe you only get this type of view with the premium rooms, some of the other rooms are facing the town so you only get a partial view of the sea as well as the room being slightly dated. I can not stress enough the difference it made to my holiday, having this gorgeous view and lovely room was the cherry on the cake for me.

The hotel is on a main road, however with the balcony doors shut you do not notice the noise, we were also on the 12th floor which was an added bonus!!

Due to our full days, we did not eat in the hotel as we preferred to see as much as we could of the town, however just a 5 minute walk away you have a gorgeous coffee/cafe called Cappuccino, very nice for lunch or breakfast or maybe just a refreshment - slightly pricey but well worth it! They are all over Palma.
There is also an Indian just a few minutes walk from the hotel too and a Hard Rock Cafe. In the town you have lots of Tapa's restaurants, so something for everyone.

Although we did not go in the swimming pool (we spent a day at a beach instead) it did look a good size and with plenty of space around for sun chairs. The pool itself is outdoor and raised a few floors above the road, it looked very clean and quite inviting.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, especially the "Premium Double with a Sea View" room, to anyone going to Palma.

Well, we approached our stay in Palma with some trepidation after reading some of the reviews. We normally holiday in the U.S. but ill health has meant that we had decided to stay closer to home once recovered. The difficulty was the sheer number of available hotels in the city, all with very variable reviews. In the end, my wife chose the Tryp Bellver.

When I started to look at some of the reviews, my heart started to sag! Poor service, lousy food, beligerent staff, awful stench of raw sewerage in the lobby and rooms, thin walls, noisy neighbours etc.etc. Seemed like a recipe for the TV of Holidays from Hell.

Well, surprise surprise. None of that was our experience.

The clerk on registering noted that it was my birthday on the day of our arrival, from my passport and wished me Happy Birthday. We went ot our room [507] which overlooked the harbour with excellent views of the city and marina and a superb balcony. The room was large, impeccably clean, well furnished, with a super kingsize bed, well laid out and with a fabulous bathroom. The only negative was the shower gel was empty, but was replaced by service first thing in the morning.

On our return from a brief walk along the marina at 5 in the afternoon, we found a bucket of iced Champagne and a note from the hotel wishing me Happy Birthday. Excellent.

The food in the restaurant for breakfast was brilliant. Although little changed from day to day, the huge range available was very impressive and we ate more than enough to see us through most of the day. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evenings. The menu, whilst good, was a little limited, certainly for me as non meat eater, so we chose some of the huge number of local alternatives.

We must stress, at no time did we experience any of the negatives previously reported, especially the smell of sewerage. However, we noted that this comment was made about several other hotels in Palma, usually in mid summer, and may be indicative of the city as opposed to the hotel!

The staff were brilliant. Kind, cheery [with one exception] and very helpful. The barman on several evenings reminded me of the EMH [Emergency Medical Hologram character in Star Trek Voyager] - which brought a smile to my face every time].

In conclusion, an excellent stay in a very good hotel with nothing major to complain about. If anything can be said of a negative nature, where the internal decor of the main hotel is good and certainly our room appears to be one of the many that have been recently and very successfully remodelled, the exterior is in need of repainting - truly a massive job and therefore expensive but essential in the next 6 - 9 months I suggest.

Recommended. Definately

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Tryp Bellver and were very satisfied with our experience. The only past criticisms of other contributors that we agree wtih are two: the white plaster layer that covers the entire exterior of the hotel is peeling off in places and needs to be fixed up, and the televisions are rather antiquated and have a somewhat fuzzy picture, not very pleasant for watching a movie. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had paid the extra charge for a seaview room and were very pleased with room 507. There appear to be quite a number of different room types, and we glimpsed several rooms along other corridors that had no sea view and appeared quite a bit smaller than ours. Presumably these rooms are somewhat cheaper than ours. But this is a factor a customer should take into account before booking here. In our case, both the room and the bathroom were spacious, attractively decorated and clean, and we had a large balcony with a stunning view of the old town and the harbor. We were also impressed that we received, in response to the E-mail we sent before we came to notify the hotel of our late arrival, a message from the hotel that allowed us to specify in advance our choice of a non-smoking room and the type of bed. We asked for one double bed, which was enormous and very comfortable. The room was right at the front of the hotel overlooking the Paseo, and there is always traffic, but with the balcony doors closed, this did not bother us. The pool area is also at the front of the hotel, so there is traffic noise, but this arrangement does allow one to enjoy the view and have access to the restaurant which is on the same level. The pool itself is not large but well maintained, with very clean water. The surrounding terrace is pleasant and there are plenty of deck chairs. The breakfast buffet is enormous and of excellent quality, a real pleasure. The restaurant also serves quite an adequate , if not memorable, dinner, and is not that espensive for a four-star hotel. One night we had dinner at restaurant Sa Cranca, which specializes in paellas and other rice dishes. You can reach it by going to the right as you leave the hotel and walking about one minute down the paseo. We had a delicious meal there, with friendly and capable service, and the price was very reasonable. Connections to the old town and other destinations are very easy. We would gladly stay at the Tryp Bellver again on a return trip to Palma.

my husband and I both in our 40's have just returned from a 5 night city break in Palma. We arrived at the airport at approx 9.30 pm and got a taxi for 22 euros. On our return journey we got the airport bus which cost 2 euros per person ! approx 35 mins journey The bus stop for the airport is directly across the road from hotel.

We never once had a problem with any smells anywhere in the hotel. Our room was on the 14th floor (1419) it had a city view. The room was really nice, cleaned every day - towels change etc. There was both a bath and shower, hairdryer and no problems with water pressure. I would say the hotel is 4 star quality. One downside was the price of the breakfast buffet which was 17.50 euros per person we had it one morning but felt it could have been cheaper.

The location is approx 15 mins walk to the cathedral, behind which you will find all the old streets plus shops, restaurants etc. of old town Palma. We found the bars in Palma expensive some places were 14 euros for 2 drinks 'trendy bar'. We walked to Palma beach and wouldnt recommend it. the water looks very rough.

Just outside the hotel to the left at Burger King there is a bus stop where we got a bus to Palma Nova. approx 20 mins which has an excellent beach, cafes, shops, bars etc. Or you could continue on for the same price to Magaluf 30 mins, Santa Ponsa 50 mins from Palma. We did all 3 places and loved them all. We had a late night in Magaluf and paid approx 20 euros for taxi back to hotel.

We would defo stay in this hotel if we visit Palma again.
