“Great Hotel. Super Location.”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

My wife and I stayed in the Tryp Bellver Hotel for a week's break in October. It is situated across from the marina and Palma's broad promenade which offers a lovely 10 to 15 minute stroll to the cathedral and main tourist area, park, coffee shops, restaurants, high quality shopping, etc. The beaches are around 15 minutes further along the promenade past the cathedral. We rate this hotel highly. The exterior has been freshly painted. The hotel entrance, reception, lobby and lounge areas on the ground floor look very classy. The views from the seaview rooms are excellent. Do your homework. Choose and pay for the best room you can - the higher the better, and as close to the front of the hotel as possible. We stayed on the top floor, room 1404 - great view over the marina towards the harbour. The hotel is built in three sections, with the main section built above the reception area offering the best views. Breakfast in the restaurant has lots of choice, and you have the option to sit outside on the elevated terrace area close to the pool. Our room had a 4 piece bathroom, including an easy to use shower, aircon/heating, safe, fridge, flat screen TV (only Sky news and BBC news in English at that time), large balcony. The staff were helpful and friendly, all the way from Sa. Garcia (Dep. Manager) to Juan at reception, and the unobtrusive maids who service the rooms. We'd be delighted to return to Palma, and this is the hotel we would return to!

Booked 24 hours in advance due to a late break opportunity
20 mins form Palma airport.
11th floor room with balcony overlooking Palma. Absolutely magnificent view - simply difficult to take your eyes off.
Perfect hotel. Wonderful buffet breakfast.
Location great.
Not much else to say except very highly recommended.
Wish I had stayed before - will certainly do so again when next in Palma.

Room Tip: Get a sea view with balcony

As others have stated, the hotel is in a great location, 10 minutes walk to some great restaurants, and on the airport bus route.

The hotel is generally well presented and has a nice pool terrace on the first floor, over-looking the marina. The pool was just a bit too cold to swim, but then again we stayed at the end of October! I imagine it would be fantastic during the summer.

We felt that that the 20 Euro upgrade was a bit high for a marina view - we enjoyed the mountain/town view at the rear, which even caught the late afternoon sun (a great place to watch people in the street below!). We didn't eat at the hotel but the facilities looked fine.

I don't normally dwell on negatives but I feel compelled to note the following: first, a minor gripe, but I struggled to get wi-fi signal, even in the hotel lobby. (Maybe I should turn the email off when on holiday, but if you're on business then this could cause your problems). Secondly, I suggest you avoid the rooms adjacent to the lifts (obvious really, in hind sight, if you've ever read a tripadvisor review ...) - ours was also next to the staff service room, where cleaning staff would have loud conversations at the start of their shift (5.30 AM!), which really put a dent in out stay. (You must expect some noise in a city hotel, but this was, IMHO, unacceptable, especially from staff members).

So, in summary, a good quality hotel, just pick your rooms carefully.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the lifts (I think 12, 14 and 15 on each floor, but check on the fire evacuation pl...

I stayed at Bellver for 3 nights as I was having a short break in Palma. It was a short distance from the airport and located directly facing the marina.

The welcome was warm and although we arrived earlier than the normal check-in time, a nice room was ready. I didn't want to pay extra (€20 per night) for a sea-view but my room still had a good sea-view from the balcony.

The hotel is modern and clean. The rooms are large and in comparison to some other supposedly 4* hotels in Palma, this is a 4* hotel!

I booked bed & breakfast. The breakfast was lovely! There was a large range including cereals, different breads, pastries, fruit, hot buffet, local dishes. It was all lovely.

There is a nice swimming pool - its clean and has a life guard and bar!

The location was handy for getting into the old and new town and also for getting to the beach.

Overall, had a lovely stay in Bellver. Will definantly stay here again if visiting Palma.

We are a couple who have visited Palma many times over the past 30 years - and are there now
As a change from the Palas Atanea and Costa Azul we chose the Tryp Bellver this time - and are writing this in the Marina Port restaurant having had a nice lunch with some wine - which must be taken into consideration!
The hotel is just opposite and looks very good - the previous reviews mentioned the need to remedy the facade and am pleased to say that it is under way at this present moment - it is now looking much better
I will not repeat the many pluses and minuses which have been reported on several previous reviews but will concentrate on the enigma
It is large hotel in a superb position, has fine rooms, excellent cleaners and a large pleasant dining room
However......
The staffing position and attitude has been mentioned before and is the main drawback
In the main the ethos seems to be of reserved formality and quite different from the usual Spanish friendliness
Booking in can be very tiresome as many have experienced - staff shortages and outdated techniques can carry some of the blame but as I will explain below the overall level of customer awareness and care needs improving
Breakfast is an experience !!
Food is excellent BUT try getting a pot of coffee in under 10 minutes
This morning my wife asked three times before we got ours, the waitress was overwhelmed with trying her best to check people in, clear tables, re-lay tables, and serve coffee pots - and she just could not cope - it was not her fault and she was not helped by the restaurant "head waiter" who spent sometime arguing with her in our full view
They need More Staff and a More Customer Oriented Approach

Now - on a lighter note - hopefully to conclude - if I may
I am a supporter of the principle that clients should not "nick" food from the breakfast buffet to feed them during the day for free
However there are ways of enforcing this in an appropriate way:-
In successive mornings my wife and I have been amazed on the one hand and highly amused on the other by two situations
The first - yesterday a woman tried to leave the restaurant with a roll covered by a napkin and was spotted by the 'checker in and out' - in a loud voice which alerted us to the occurrence he said "NO", took the offending roll and threw it into the waste bucket - which we all saw!!
The second - this morning - a man was taking his unfinished cup of coffee to finish outside when a 'checker in and out' stopped him in our full view and made him sit at a table next to ours to finish the coffee
......If prisoners in UK jails were treated like this would they complain the the Court of Human Rights ? LOL

It has been a revelation which to be honest both my wife and I have found strangely amusing - (amongst other feelings)

PS my wife has just mentioned the "barman" last night - he was so bad we just gave up and went to bed

Will we come back again - not until the management get this sorted

Room Tip: Must be a view over the marina

The Tryp Bellver is on the main road by the marina in Palma. Easy walking distance to the old town, cathedral - and if you don't mind all the steps the castle

The no 1 bus from the airport goes past the hotel so it is easy to get to. We only booked a room but it was comfortable, clean and no problems with the hot water supply. Check in took 15 mins or so but checkout was quick.

Plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance for breakfast and dinner

Booked a superior room and a high floor. The room was fine but seemed pretty average for a hotel room. Terrific bacony and view over the port but what a lot of noise from the busy road bellow! Shut the balcony doors at night and pretty good but if you want outside air you had better take eardefenders. Staff were all very helpfull and pleasant breakfasts fine everywhere clean but showing some signs of wear and tear. Position is reall the big thing here cheap buses outside no distance to anywhere in this lovely city and places to eat and drink at night close by. Good value for money will sta again when next back can't get over bus fare to and from the airport 2.50 euros and door too door!
