We arrived at the hotel, situated in a quiet residential area just a bit outside of Palma, and were greeted by a friendly and informative receptionist, who spoke English very well, and told us all we needed to know. When she opened the door behind the reception desk that lead straight to the pool area, where we could see the sun shine down in the sparkling pool water, we knew we had come to the right place.

We were given a room on the 4th floor. All rooms have balconies facing approximately east. The view isn't that great, you can see almost all of Palma city (not the prettiest city skyline) from the top floor, not much of the waterfront though, but it was nice enough. The room was fairly large, and apartment-style with a little kitchen with pretty much all you needed to cook, dine, slice and dice. There was a medium-sized refridgerator, which was very nice for keeping water, food and beverages cold. Airconditioning worked very well and quickly cooled the room. LCD television with digital TV.

A few complaints about the room: Slight sewage smell in the bathroom, pretty nasty when you returned after a day out, but it didn't bother us while staying in the bedroom area. Poor ventilation in the bathroom. Sparse bath gel/shampoo/amenities. No small reading lamps by the beds, only huge ones on the wall. Absolutely no non-Spanish channels on the TV. The bed was a bit hard (could feel the springs), and the pillow was also rather poor.

The pool area was really good. Quiet and always available sunbeds. Very few kids in general, just mostly adults relaxing or taking a short swim. There's also a bar just inside, which serves drinks, ice cream and snacks. I had a decent baguette, but stay FAR away from their pizzas. They're awful frozen ones that look nothing like the illustrated menu card, and it was literally the worst pizza I had ever had!

Breakfast was also very decent. Plenty of variety and always stocked, so to speak, even at almost 10 o'clock. The only two minor complaints was that the orange juice was crappy (as always in a hotel), and the boiled eggs weren't kept warm, but I'll live :).

Some other info: The hotel is located about 5 minutes of walking from a large shopping mall/area, Porto Pi, which has lots of shops and also a gigantic supermarket (Carrefour), where you can buy pretty much everything cheaply. There's also a bus stop just 2 minutes walk away from the hotel, at Joan Miro street, where you can take line 3 to the center of Palma, for 1,25 euro per person. A taxi is about 6-7 euro to Palma, which I recommend instead of wasting your holiday time waiting for a slow bus. The in-room safe costs 19 euro for a week (a bit clumsy with a key instead of a code). Wifi 7 euro for a week, which worked fine by the way.

All in all a great hotel for the price!

This was our first break in Palma and this hotel impressed. It is a bit of a walk from main resort but the shopping centre of porto pi was only about a 10 minute walk where there are more resturants and bars. The rooms were spottlessly clean although the decoration was a little dated. The pool area was very plesant and there was always free beds around the pool. The provided beach towels for sunbathing were and added bonus. Alround an excellent value for money hotel and would stay again.

Just got back from a 5-day stay here and were very happy with this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, spacious room, great breakfast and a very good price – EUR 60 per night for the room including breakfast for the two of us. Although the location is well away from the city centre, it is a very pleasant walk alongside the harbor to get to the old town. There are also frequent buses into town (routes 3 and 46 are close by) and it’s also not far from bus stops for the airport bus (route 1). As others have mentioned, the Porto Pi shopping centre is within 10 minutes walk and as well as the Carrefour supermarket, there are the usual suspects for fast food (Burger King, McDonalds and Pizza Hut) if you like that sort of thing. There aren’t any traditional Spanish restaurants in the area (not that we found anyway) but Woodys Mare on the Can Barbara marina and Magari at Paseo Maritimo 35 are both excellent Italian restaurants.

My wife and i stayed at the Augusta for 4 nights at the end of October and were really pleased with the place. For the money you are paying its a great place to stay .... clean large rooms, friendly & helpful staff, good (continental) breakfast, lovely pool and terrace. There is a small kitchen in the room but it has a big fridge which is really useful.

It is right at the far end of the port area but its a lovely (45mins) walk to Palma centre along the harbour or there are plenty of regular buses (no1 or no3) to take you into Palma in less than 10mins for 1.5E. Also the No 1 bus runs to and from the airport for 2E.
