As said before, old building so no lift and fittings a little worn in places.

However beautiful building and public areas lovely. Bedrooms are a little dark and can be noisy as overlook street or courtyards etc.

Breakfast very good and outside courtyard very plaesant to eat in.

Location couldn't be better as close to shops, restaurants and cathedral etc and bus stops not too far away.

A good budget hotel in a central location.

If you have heavy luggage and are on the second or third floor it is an arduous climb and the second lot of stairs don't even continue on from the first. Despite this it is a pleasant hotel with a lovely courtyard and excellent breakfast.

The Hotel Born is perfectly located in the old town of Palma. The building has a lot of charme and is in good condition for its age. Rooms are very clean, but simple. The bath has a heavy curtain, but an absolutely clean one. As there is no elevator, the carpet on the stairs is worn at the edges. Not a problem though, and understandable as most guests will drag their suitcases upstairs instead of lifting them.
We had rooms to the road just under the roof. They are quite noisy as even normal talking will travel up the walls of the narrow alley and reflect from the overlapping roof through the thin window in to the room. The first night I woke up constantly. As of the second night I slept through. So if you wake up easy, insist on a room to the inner courtyard, where of course you might get woken up by cutlery noise in summer. Hence, if you're looking for the comfort and privacy of a five star hotel, don't choose this one. If you want to be amidst the local history and culture, this hotel will be perfect. The hotel offers free internet (wireless and pc). The breakfast selection is quite good with various fresh bread, local meats and cheeses. Yoghurts and milk however tasted quite artificial and the water quality didn't produce a pleasing tea. Their coffee however made ma happy.
Getting to the hotel is easiest by public bus #1 from the airport for € 2.-. Exit at Passeig de Mallora 38 and walk 450 metres along Jaume III. The hotel then is on in the alley to your left. Many restaurants and shops are close by. Returning to Plama, I would most likely pick the same hotel again.

I agree with all previous reviewers. Booking a courtyard view is definitely preferable, although I had a third floor room with no view at all, and slept reasonably well, a few revellers wending their way home! Anyone who wants a hotel purely as a central base for Palma, this is the one! The Reception staff without exception were courteous and very friendly Free internet room. The hotel is a wonderful old building which has not yet been made into a trendy boutique, so of course it has its drawbacks no lift, soft furnishings etc.,but for a weekend or midweek break it is ideal. P.S If you want to blow what you have saved on booking a more expensive hotel, leave the hotel onto the main street, turn right and right again and go up the alleyway to the first restaurant on the right Asador Tierra Arandor. A truely authentic Mallorcan restaurant (not one of the tourist tapas joints on the Apuntadores) The suckling pig cooked over an open fire is sensational, as is the garlic soup starter.

This hotel is near the older city parts of Palma and situated in an old Mallorquien city villa. Lobby and floors still have a royal feeling and the inner courtyard features some nice palmtrees and tables; a nice breakfast location in summer.

Rooms are not really big but clean. So are the bathrooms. Service ist nice and everybody is friendly and helpful. Try to get a room not located to the street. It get's really loud at night and you will wake up frequently!

Fazit: I would recommend this hotel if you get a room to the inner courtyard! ;)

P.S.: The hotel has only 2 stars, so don't expect something over fancy (although the lobby and floor decorations are really classy!)

We booked Hotel Born following the recommendations made on Trip Advisor. The Hotel is undeniably beautiful (in communal areas), has helpful, knowledgeable staff, offers a lovely breakfast and is extremely well placed for restaurants and bars, touring Palma and getting about the rest of island.
HOWEVER, if you want comfort or indeed a good night’s sleep then don’t stay here. We booked a Junior Suite overlooking the courtyard. The room was bare and basic. Beds were small and very very hard with only a small tired mattress separating you from the wooden base. The bed linen comprised old thin sheets and blankets as well as worn pillows which were almost impossible to place in a comfortable position.
Noise was noted by previous visitors and we have to agree. A big issue was the banging windows and shutters of guest’s rooms throughout the night. And beware, your neighbour will be able to hear every word you say and precisely what you are doing on the toilet (we could hear both neighbours and the room above!)
While this Hotel has some real plus points it is definitely not worth the money for a Junior Suite. It was an upmarket hostel room within an historically beautiful building.

The Hotel Born is perfectly located at the heart of Palma ideal for sightseeing and shopping. The building is a beautiful old palazzo set around a delightful courtyard. You see many buildings like this in Palma - here is a chance to stay in one. The downside of the building's age and character is the lack of a lift and the fact that the rooms are of varying sizes and shapes. Some of the carpeting and furnishing is a bit worn, but we found everything to be clean and comfortable and everything in the en-suite bathroom worked well. The buffet breakfast was brilliant - with more of a selection than in many 4 star places. Staff were efficient and helpful.
