Third time we have stayed at hotel and first time since refub of upper floors, rooms are very nice and of a high standard and the view as always is fantastic. The problem I am starting to have with the hotel is its staff, booked two sea view rooms and had to e-mail the hotel for confirmation of the booking as i had not received one got one back a few days later. Turned up at the hotel and they had not booked the two rooms and let us wait for quite a while and then the manager tried to show me a piece of paper with my booking on it pointing out the corner with ' on request' as luck would have it I had the confirmation e-mail on my phone but he would not look at it but the stupid thing was they had the two rooms available so why go through all this making us wait and trying to make out its my fault !

After reading the recent write up’s on Trip Advisor about this hotel we were expecting something special and we weren’t disappointed.
We paid extra for a room facing the harbour, rather than a quieter room at the back, and the stunning view of the harbour and to the left of the cathedral, it was well worth it.
We were told just before we left that there would be some distribution because the lower 2 floors and bar were being re furbished to match the rest of the hotel, but this didn’t ruin the experience.
The hotel is prominent from the road so you will have no problem finding it and the bus stops are outside which is handy if you get the bus from the airport, which takes about 15 minutes.
The front and the reception are clean, modern, fresh and bright, and the staff on the desk are polite, professional and helpful. The rooms were serviced each day and were spotlessly clean.
We were on the 6th floor – room 601 – again the corridors are bright, airy, chic and colourful, as are the rooms.
The rooms are of a decent size, well equipped with a fridge, TV, hair dryer, air con (included in the room cost) and free wi-fi. The bed was fantastic and firm, and with 3 pillows of differing firmness, there was one suitable for all !
The balcony was spacious, and very private, and brilliant to relax on at night.
The breakfast was buffet style, with the hot stuff – eggs, bacon, sausage etc – cooked in front of you when need. There was cakes, bread, fruit, cereals etc, etc, all very tasty.
The location was great, just 10-15 minutes walk to the town where the cathedral and the other sights are, the buses frequent and reasonable priced. There are plenty of shops and cafes / restaurants nearby.
Would say this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and would defiantly stay here again.

Room Tip: Without doubt pay extra to get a front room overlooking the harbour - maybe nosier but view is worth...

Great hotel, comfortable, clean and great facilities. The pool isn’t quite as big as it seems in the picture. There was one man in there when we went and to be honest, anymore and it would’ve been crowded.

We had a non smoking room which was fabulous apart from the fact it absolutely reeked of smoke which was disappointing.

Nice hotel though with extremely helpful staff. If I ever went back I would go for the sea view rooms as the road view was a bit of a let down.

Breakfast was included in the price and I have to say it was fantastic. So much choice and whatever type of breakfast you enjoy there was something there.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view

we stayed early September for one night and were very pleased with the location (the airport bus passes the front door). I had booked a sea view triple room and although we were on the second floor our room had a sea facing balcony and two separate bedrooms. I understand that the floor is to be refurbished, but the room was spotless with two flat screen TV's along with a room safe and plenty of bathroom amenities. What make this property special is the staff, from the moment we checked in the front of house couldn't be more helpful and even the staff on at breakfast were delightful under pressure. When we returned a week later and needed the internet to check on our flights the duty manager allowed us to use the hotels internet at no cost even though we were not staying in the hotel! The hotel is located between the old town and the CBD on the waterfront and is perfect base to explore Palma.

This was our fourth time at The Costa Azul and the first since the refurbishments. We booked through Alfa Rooms and had requested a room above the fourth floor with a sea view. We were allocated one of the fifth floor with a great view of the Bay of Palma. The refurbishment is of a high standard but in my opinion will seem somewhat dated in three, five or seven years time. Before the refurbishment the hotel had a comfortable welcoming feel but I think that has now been lost with the starkness of the decor in the rooms. The memory foam mattresses were not for me they were hard and uncomfortable. I only managed to get a good nights sleep by placing an additional duvet and pillows on top of the mattress.
Two days before our departure the bar on the ground floor was closed for refurbishment and the pool bar opened. This was a mistake . The once comfortable wicker chairs, in the pool bar area, had been replaced by hard uncomfortable white plastic ones as a result no one stayed in the bar and it closed very early. The food was fine, I have had no problems at all, there is always plenty of it and a variety both at breakfast and at dinner. There is however a problem with staff numbers in the dinning room and indeed throughout the hotel. Money spent on recruiting staff would have been an investment and would have complimented the upgrade. The hotel now boasts four stars. I think it may be a time before we visit this hotel again. As we left the refurbishment on the first and second floors had begun and the pool area was about to begin. I am told that this will all be completed by March 2013.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are with the extra . A room above the fourth floor is an ideal as the rooms on the t...

A little worried about noise from the refurbishment but in fact this was OK. Had room at back on eighth floor -very spacious and well fitted. Lots of early morning street noise but you expect that in a city! Breakfast was generally good ,lots of choice and space for all. The cooked "english" did not look very appetizing but we usually avoid that anyway.Staff in the dining room were very attentive and friendly. We did not have dinner as had heard unfavourable reports. The reception staff were polite and helpful .A very good situation with a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of the old town.

Room Tip: high floor at front but you will have to pay extra for the view

This was our first stay at this hotel and we chose it because of comments made on this site. We chose the hotel and our agent made up a flight /hotel /half board package for us.
Because of an electrical problem aboard the aircraft, we arrived at the hotel after the dining room had closed. We were immediately advised that the hotel would compensate for this by providing us with a picnic lunch on any day we chose. Well Done!
We had not specified a sea view but were given a second floor front with a view over the harbour. This was a very spacious room with a double set of patio doors to the balcony, which cut out all noise from the main road below. A large flat screen television with BBC channels and the room was equipped for disabled visitors. The bathroom having a telephone, very large shower with pull down seat, a shower door which opened wide to accommodate a wheelchair and safety bars in shower and beside the toilet. Everything was at an appropriate height and there was a stool in the bathroom to use at the wash basin if needed. There was also a toilet for the disabled in the corridor near the lift. We did not need these facilities but having accompanied disabled people in the past, I could appreciate the care taken. Again well done.
The meals were without doubt the highlight of our holiday. They were buffet and offered a very large choice. The Chef was on hand to carve or serve your choice if needed. Again of great help if you are disabled. Otherwise you could choose and serve yourself. Everything was well cooked and very tasty. Nothing was spoilt by overcooking or by keeping warm overlong. White cotton table cloths at every meal. The hotel was busy during our stay but there were always free tables so we never had to share with other guests.
Every member of staff we had contact with was friendly and helpful and they each added to the enjoyment of our stay.
We had a look at the pool and sun deck and all looked up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.

We can definately give Hotel Costa Azul top marks.

Room Tip: We got the impression that the second floor was equipped for disabled visitors.
