“excels in all parts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

The breakfast is magnificent, and along with the Bistro has plenty of choice to keep you interested for the whole week. Our suite was amongst the many rooms positioned to enjoy the huge sweep of a view of the entire Palma bay including its cathedral and the cruise liner berths. Bring binoculars!

Being set on a steep hill did mean an uphill walk back, but we soon discovered that the local bus stop within 100M of the front door was the 46 bus to all the important Palma central destinations, costing all of 1E5 per journey. Otherwise from this hotel we walked to the cathedral in 45 minutes along the wonderful promenade. we walked to Grand Melia Victoria in 20 minutes, which for us was where the evening eateries and drinking started. Taxi back from here just less than 5E.

The big advantage here must be the large estate and having 2 pools.

Close to us we found a local supermarket for water, wine and those evening nibbles to be enjoyed on your balcony, enjoying that view. Go out of the hotel, down the hill, turning right in front of the Horizonte hotel (where you can hire bicycles for 10E per day) and about 200M down on the right is the shop (the owners also bake pizza squares and cakes).

The suite is well designed with separate toilet and bidet from the double basin bathroom which allows for some parallel ablutions, saving time and crossed legs. The bed was 7ft in all directions.

Enjoyed an evening meal with the quality and service you would expect.

Room Tip: Has to be sea facing

I was here with my son for a weekend in April. I liked it a lot and my son (23 years old) loved it too. The view from our room (not sure all the rooms have the same view) was amazing, and the windows so wide; it seemed we could fly :) Nice room and comfortable beds. I also enjoyed the spa. The atmosphere was very relaxing, perhaps also because it was low season. I will return here for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea view and very wide windows (don't remember the name) - Try to use the sp...

Settled in a huge hill overlooking Porto Pi is the Valparaiso hotel. The hotel is a bit dated, all the marble in pastel colours reminded me of the Ritz and the room had no colour theme or matching soft furnishings, but it was fine. Amazing view over the pools and Marina which was just stunning at day break. It was cold when we arrived so we discovered the indoor pool and spa facilities which were great. A very relaxing environment with everything you needed. Lunch in the restaurant upstairs was interesting, I think they tried to please all their customers but some normal tapas would have been fine! We opted for a sandwich and pizza which weren't great. Good selection of drinks though.

We asked concierge about getting into town and restaurant advice, but she didn't really know what to say to us and had no advice. We walked into Palma, took maybe half an hour downhill and we discovered some great places. It's cheaper to get a taxi from the rank just outside the hotel than have them call you one. We got totally ripped off coming from the airport and returning, they add on five euro for bags and all sorts.

Breakfast in the morning was unbelievable. Cava, freshly squeezed juiced, omelettes, cheeses, fruit... Just everything. They even cook crepes. We were so impressed with the quality and quantity and there was lots of British papers to read. We are in our late twenties so a bit young compared to everyone else, lots of people in sixties and seventies.

So great, and would go again if we went to Palma again.

Stayed for a weekend. Lovely comfortable hotel with great views over the bay and cathedral. Snippy staff on reception no welcome drink and no turn down service in the evening. Lovely breakfast on the terrace and spacious gardens and pool area. Indoor spa and pool was free and quiet, although looking a bit tired in parts. Evening meals nice too but again rather snippy service.
Comfortable beds but air conditioning not great. Good selection of tv channels including UK terrestrial channels eg BBC1 etc. Quiet surrounding area mainly residential and a bit too far to walk into Palma itself although very close to Porto PI shopping Mall with excellent shops. Lovely fish restaurant just near here. Great place for a relaxing long weekend. Mainly German guests in the hotel. Very quiet at night too. Make sure you get a bay or cathedral view room. It's worth the extra. Only free wifi at reception.

Room Tip: You must get bay or cathedral view-well worth the extra.

We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel. The room was spacious and well decorated with excellent view of sea and harbour. Breakfast is very good (worth 5 star). The only thing not perfect is that it was located up the hill and relatively far from city center so it's not very convenient to go out without a taxi.

Needed a quick warm break after the long cold winter. This hotel looked like it would do the trick. We were not dissapointed. Good position on the outskirts of Palma but close enough to walk/taxi/bus to the centre. Veiws toward the sea, great surroundings in extensive grounds. Has everything you need. Spa included which was excellent which was just as well as the weather was terrible!! Not what was planned. Staff freindly and very helpful. Rooms and beds very comfortable. Breakfast very good and dinner at the hotel on the 2 occasions we ate there was enjoyable. Would certainly go back just to use the pool and sun loungers!

This is a lovely hotel. I can't give it 5 due to the charges for Internet. They're reasonable enough, just was the icing on the cake for not receiving a 5 from me. The rooms are furnished so nicely! The rooms are large, the view amazing. The breakfast is by far the biggest and best i've seen in awhile! It had options for people with special dietary requirements !! which is very rare. I was impressed. I can't find much fault. I know tea and coffee making facilities aren't that common in Spain/Italy but it was also a fault being a massive tea drinker. A lovely stay with a number of great nights sleep!!
