“Great location, comfortable”
Reviewed October 4, 2013 via mobile

Hotel Saratoga is in a first class location, about 5 mins walk from the port, 10 mins to the impressive cathedral, and centrally located for great bars and restaurants.
The rooms are comfortable rather than exciting. The roof top pool is lovely, but gets very crowded very quickly. Food, only judged by breakfast, is good. Nice hotel, good service, good prices.

This hotel doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is. Great location for city visit - walking to the old town and accessing all the city landmarks. Staff friendly and helpful (spoke English & French).
As we booked last minute on a 'specials' site, we got one of the side rooms, which doesn't have a great outlook. The room however, was very clean; the bed comfortable; bathroom a good size and surprisingly quiet considering I had one of the ground floor rooms. My friend who had another room, requested being moved to a higher level as she sleeps with the window open (this wasn't a problem).
Didn't use the breakfast facility, preferred to go for coffee & croissant out on the street with the locals, but it looked pleasant enough, situated with an outdoor dining area.
There is a swimming pool on ground floor (not too many using it) and another smaller pool at roof top level (many more users). The hotel has a jazz bar, which seems quite popular (not a jazz fan, so only went for a quick drink).
We used the bus service to get to some very nice beaches, west of Palma, again only around the corner from the hotel and you can't get lost because the bus route is a loop.

Room Tip: Requesting a higher floor is an idea if you sleep with window open.

I'd ideally have scored this 3.5 rather than 3. We stayed at the Hotel Saratoga for five nights whilst visiting Palma. The hotel is perfectly located to discover this beautiful city and was only €20 in a taxi from the airport. The hotel staff were extremely helpful throughout and the team made some great beach and restaurant recommendations.

Our double-room consisted of two singles pushed together with individual bedding which wasn't the most comfortable. Our mini bar was restocked only twice and some dirty glasses remained in our room for the last three days of our stay.

The rooftop pool is very nice and we preferred this to the ground level one which spends most of the day in the shade so is very cold!

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the higher floors overlooking the pools.

Lovely city centre hotel, elegant public areas, not much atmosphere though. However, this is outweighed by the proximity to wonderfu shops, bars and restaurants. El Corte Ingles is a few minutes walk, worth exploring especially the food store in the basement. Try Ginbo cocktail bar nearby and if you're a jazz fan, the hotel has a rooftop jazz bar which is very hip. Two swimming pools but neither have much of a poolside seating area. Overall, a good hotel, profesionally run but lacking a friendly, welcoming vibe.

It is undoubtedly in an excellent location- 5 minutes to the centre of town, easy to the Port, but while location is a lot, its not everything.
Reception areas are pleasant and airy, but most rooms are a disappointment in terms of outlook. A very few are to the back, up high so they will have views over town to the Cathedral; but most are either onto the quite claustrophobic courtyard looking either across at other balconies or at a blank wall. Many other rooms are onto a very gloomy side street, with no view or to the front, with huge supplement payable, onto the tree lined river, which is a lot less glamorous than you imagine.
rooms themselves are generous and comfortable.
Two pools sound tempting, but the bigger and cleaner ground floor one is 8 floors over-shaded in the courtyard; the small pleasant rooftop one is beset by people who jam into it with drinks all day so there is nowhere to sit, even though the view is lovely and everyone wishes that they could find a spot- you end up taking a peek and leaving the lucky ones to it. Adding to the disappointment of the roof is that the hotel seems to offer no control and while only about 10 sunbeds are available, each time that we went up there were towels or books left on the few free beds and nobody using them. we had a ridiculous interlude where the two sunbeds not in the shade were taken with towels and all other sunbeds, overshaded in the afternoon, were lain on by people who would much rather have had the sun!
breakfast was EUR14 each per day- no thanks for a mass buffet!
the management was indifferent to us, no attempts at greetings or welcomes- it all felt very impersonal and quite soulless.

Room Tip: Ask for higher level courtyard facing standard rooms and don't pay supplement for river rooms.

Was at this hotels with a group of girlfriends. There were 5 of us in total and we had a Deluxe twin room and a junior suite for 3 adults. The rooms were large and very comfortable overlooking the pool and the views of the cathedral were great. They were quiet. We had everything we needed including a safe and a mini bar that we used as a fridge.
We didn't eat in the hotel but found wonderful places nearby for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The jazz bar was a nice place to go at the end of the night and the jazz bands were excellent. We would recommend the Gin & Tonics.
The roof top pool was small with not a lot of sunbeds but we tended to go there at the end of the day to relax before going out for dimmer and we always found a seat. Fantastic views from the pool and the bar.
Would recommend restaurants Simply Fosh, La Paloma, Tanto Amore and Japponice. Place for breakfast was Es Rebost on Avinguda de Jaume 111 all fresh made produce and lovely coffee.
Felt very safe in this area and the staff in the hotel were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors looking onto the pool are lovely. Corridors a bit noisy as soundproofing...

A perfect location and newly renovated rooms made this hotel a good catch for our one week stay. A short walk away from the busy catalina citadel where you find a good variety of rest aurants and the old town with its churches and god varieties of shops, this hotel was a good match .Though the hotel has the most friendly and helpfull staff at the reception, the hotel has a bit left to live up to its 4 stars. As an example the breakfastroom was a disappointing experience. To few table made it partly impossible to sit outdoor in the nice warm wheather. And some waiter doing their best complaining to the guest about workingconditions was unprofessional.
Many reviewers have written about the jazzevents taking place at the bar on 7 th floor in this hotel. Though it is popular and collect a good crowd, it didn't disturb us much staying on the 5 floor. The hotel has one out of two pools and a gym on the rooffloor. Not of a very high quality together with poorly service the facilities was not our favourit part of the hotel. Palma is a very nice city and should have moore hotels with high standard in its towncenter.

Room Tip: rooms on the 5th and 6th floor are very modern and faces the backyard. That could include a good sun...
