“Old style glamour and service”
Reviewed March 29, 2010

The Gran Melia Victoria has an air of sophistication and glamour that takes you back to how 5* travel used to be. The staff are discreet and efficient, with the air of competence that marks this hotel out as something special.

Our room, facing the harbour, was grand and sumptuous, and the view.... we sat on the balcony all evening taking it in. The room had a remote control system for the aircon, lighting and curtains and kept us entertained for ages! A nice touch. Furnishings are luxurious and the bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms was lovely, with seperate sink and toilet/bath shower area. Very nice choice of shampoos etc and lovely new towels. Housekeeping were just excellent.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and was great, with an omlette station, and delicious pastries all made in the hotel's kitchens.

The outdoor terrace is a brilliant place to sit with a drink, and again that view is second to none.

Overall, this is old style, 5* glamour and we will definately be back.... thanks to all the staff.

Have just returned from a four day stay at the Gran Melia. We stayed in a suite on the 5th floor (528) The suite was amazing, fantastic views from the lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Our visit was during the cold spell so were able to make the most of our lovely suite.
All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were very good as was the room service which we had on the first night as we were late arriving.
We did not use the hotel restaurant but had a couple of drinks at the bar - as mentioned in previous reviews the drinks are very expensive.
Can highly recommend Simply Fosh restaurant for a special meal.
We stayed from Monday until Friday and it was only on the Thursday night that we were kept awake with the noise from the disco below the hotel - this went on until 6am in the morning.
This is our second visit and we will return - but not during the weekend period.

Dear Tripadvisor Member,

Thank you very much for your comments which are greatly appreciated by our entire Team. All in all, it is great to hear that you enjoyed your stay in one of our Suites, as well as the views that it offers over Palma´s Bay. In terms of the noise from the nearby disco, we are sorry that you experienced this situation and we can assure you that we are doing our best to reduce these types of incidences. We look forward to welcoming you back in a not too distant future.

The hotel has a traditional 5 star classic feel to it. We stayed in a sea view room no 302. View was obscured by the roof of the building next door but apart from that the room was spacious and definatley 5 star. Staff very polite and efficient. View from restaurant and terrace is fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel has a very nice location, central, parking available. The staff was also very nice and friendly. It was a pleasure to spend every evening on the terrace bar! The salt water pool is a speciality. Great pool bar food!

I took Carole to Palma for a surprise 4 day trip on the occasion of her birthday, she did not know where we were going until the airport, and even then she didn't know what else was happening! We are experienced travellers, and we know Majorca quite well (our favourite location is Andratx) and I wanted to stay in Palma because I had asked the concierge at the Victoria to obtain tickets for the Opera at the "Teatre" on Sunday. The Hotel Victoria was a delightful experience, we had a delightful room on the third floor on the front overlooking the Paseo and the boats, and every detail, from the room, reception & concierge, breakfast and room service, was faultless and beyond reproach. The concierge had been helping me with tickets etc weeks before we arrived and were professional and efficient. We had Saturday dinner at "Simply Fosh" and Sunday lunch at "Valdemosa Hotel", both excellent.
The whole weekend was superb and I would recommend the Gran Melia hotel without hesitation.

The Gran Melia Victoria hotel is extremely comfortable with very helpful staff. We were upgraded to a room with a view, and the view across the bay to the cathedral was stunning. There were lots of great little touches like chocolates and Etro toiletries. Breakfast on the terrace was great - excellent food and very relaxing.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely hotel. The staff are delightful, ready and willing to help with all enquiries. The room we had 540 (as recommended by another reviewer on this site) was wonderful with an enormous bed, well equipped bathroom, all the usual toiletries included and a lighting system that took a little working out but efficient nonetheless. More than effictive A/C too. We had a side sea view which was fine, as we didn't spend too long on the balcony.
The swimming pool is salt water, so would recommend googles for serious swimmers. Only downside is the very busy road that runs along the front of the hotel just below the pool/area. If only the road wasn't there it would be nearly perfect.
The breakfast is extremely good with a large choice of dishes, from full english to pastries, breads, fresh fruit (my favourite), meat, fish, juices, water, Cava etc.
Didn't have dinner in the hotel, tried restaurants outside as a change of scene.
We had lunch at the pool bar which was expensive but tasty. Do try the Sangria.....
Would we go back, yes if they could get the road re-routed.
