“Boutique without modern “Design””
Reviewed February 2, 2013

This is one of the most charming hotels we ever stayed in. It is a wonderful combination of traditional style and modern amenities and (nearly) all aspects were superb and enjoyable. We got upgraded to a huge suite, which was still very cosy. The bathroom was spacious, toiletries high quality, the bed fantastic, room service very prompt and the front desk very helpful. The hotel is very centrally located so all sight of Palma are within walking distance. Wi-Fi is free, breakfast delicious. There is also a “spa” with both a dry and steam sauna and a huge jacuzzi which you can reserve for your own use. Just ask for extra towels and a second lounge chair (and the “nearly” above goes away...)!

We stayed here from Christmas eve until Dec 27.We had a room on the first floor rm6.The hotel is beautiful and set around a courtyard. Our room was lovely with alarge and very comfortable bed and was very quiet. After a warm welcome,a glass of cava and a few nibbles we were shown the superb restored palacio rooms just outside our private room and were invited to use them whenever we wished. We had booked dinner on Christmas eve and it was so good we arranged to have dinner on Christmas night too.The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

We stayed for 4 nights, room only, over Xmas in rm 10 on the second floor. We chose the hotel for its location & reviews, and it was perfect for sightseeing and relaxing in. Also close to the route of bus no1 to the airport.
We ate in 3 times, including Xmas lunch, and the food, wine and service in the restaurant were all excellent. Being in the old town, where all buildings are close together and streets are narrow, you have to expect some street noise and bells etc but these were not a problem and we slept with the window open. Our room ( with AC) was nice, but obviously one of the cheaper ones, and it would be nice to stay again and afford a more expensive room.
The bed was big and comfy, the room light and airy( though loke many rooms- overlooking and overlooked by other rooms with access to the inner courtyard lightwell, and the roof terrace), but let down by a strangely designed bathroom. This was directly off the bedroom, with no door ( not my favourite arrangement), though the toilet, in the bathroom, had a glass door. The washbasin was huge and shallow, not leaving enough space for bottles etc. The shower was in the bath but the bath had double sloping ends and had only a narrow shower partition so the floor got very wet when the shower was used. Good toiletries by Danana.
There was a small fridge with complimentary water ( no mini bar) and a TV, but no hot drink making facilities. We asked for a DVD player and this was arranged. Lots of hanging space.
The noise of the maids in the morning and fellow guests next door in rm 12 was intrusive at times as the room door was very thin.
As a whole the hotel building is beautiful with some stunning, restored Palacio rooms on the first floor, for guests to use as lounges
The staff were all excellent- friendly, approachable and professional, with good English.
We would definately return to this hotel again.
Lots of cafes and bars very close by. We liked for L'Ambigu, behind the Church of Ste Eulalia for drinks and tapas
We loved Palma- our second stay over a Xmas for some Spring weather and great eating& sightseeing, and I will review the restaurant Mira, in Palma, and the restaurant Lua, in Pte de Soller, separately.

Room Tip: Our room 10, though not the best, was good value. I did not like the look of room 7 as its windows w...

My husband booked this hotel as a surprise mini break for my special birthday. The hotel is gorgeous. The staff are so brilliant - they add the wow factor to an already amazing hotel. Our room was always immaculately cleaned. The decor is so well done. We had exclusive use of the spa for an hour - which was just so perfect - I do love a jacuzzi and sauna. Would I come back - in a heart beat. The hotel location is excellent for everything you may wish to do in Palma. We walked everywhere and really enjoyed it. The staff took care of every detail - such as booking a special restaurant for us when we had difficulty in emailing them direct. As a result, not a day went by without a glass of champagne. I am so grateful to the staff for making our stay so wonderful. Thank you Benjamin and Carlos. Claire and Nige

I booked this hotel early in the year to celebrate my wife's special birthday in November 2012. The staff could not have been more helpful; that was before we arrived. Booking treatments in the Spa and reserving tables at local restaurants.
They were just as accommodating upon our arrival, and their welcome goes some way into making Hotel Can Cera, not just a great hotel but an excellent hotel. Accommodation was roomy and very clean. In fact, if you left your room for a few minutes it had been tidied by the time you returned! Where did the cleaners appear from as you never saw them whilst in the public rooms? As for the restaurant, we both found the tasting menu of good quality and more than enough to satisfy our hunger. Location could not be better and we were able to see areas missed in previous visits to Mallorca. We were both disappointed to leave but I am sure we will be back some day. Thanks for a great weekend.

The staff at the hotel were very welcoming. Our room was fine - nice big bed and the bathroom was large and well appointed. The first night we decided to eat in the hotel and we had the tasting menu. We were very disappointed with the poor quality of the meal. The soup was luke warm and tasted more of potato sludge rather than leek which it was supposed to be. The fish course was insipid. The steak was inedible - made from a poor cut of beef and the desserts were OK. We were on a bed & breakfast package and were surprised to be charged extra for the hot breakfasts that we'd been offered.

We, my wife and I, were on a golf trip and the reviews presented before this are pretty much spot on,,, this is a charming botique hotel with an excellent location,,, we stayed as well in the can cera suite for ten nights and were not disappointed,,, a word of advice... pony up for the parking in the private garage if you have a car... a hundred meter walk,,, parking next to the cathedral is free at night, but not so during the day and when school starts @ 8am or lets out @ 5pm you will need to be a magician to find a spot... parking in the underground area beneath plaza major is also a nusiance and priced the same... also, make sure if driving or walking to have a gps system in your car or hand,,,as the Can Cera is tucked away on a walking street... In my opinion what makes the Can Cera is the staff,,, Enough cannot be said about these hard working and very friendly folks... I would mention names but they are equals in trying to ensure you have a great trip... ska,, tucson arizona

Room Tip: all rooms are of equal quality,,, if you desire 'space' the can cera suite is for you,,, i...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
At over 700 years old, Can Cera has one of the longest histories in Palma. The building dates back to before 1232 when Jaume I conquered the island with Catalan and Aragonese troops. Located inside the ancient city walls close to the Cathedral, Can Cera is in the very heart of the Old City, between the Plaza de Santa Eulalia and the Plaza de San Francisco. Over the years, Can Cera’s many owners have made alterations to the original building. The most important of these were done in the 17th Century, when –as in many of the surrounding houses– Italian Renaissance architects inspired the creation of the celebrated patios, giving the houses their singularly attractive, yet austere, character. Inside, the house is significant and rich with well-proportioned rooms, high ceilings of sculptured plasterwork, balconies and above all, palatial adornments. Today, Can Cera, has been thoroughly renovated and equipped as a first class Hotel. The traditional Majorcan patio, with its majestic arches, exuberant Kentia and other lush plants, leads to the Reception area and the Can Cera Restaurant. A marble stairway leads up to a surprising space: a comfortable and welcoming Home with its original layout intact. Period furniture and contemporary paintings abound. ... more   less
