We were very sceptical about this place, as we saw looooots of Brits in there and we know that if a place is full of tourist, usually the place is horrendous. But what I lovely surprise we got, although the place was completly packed, and we never got a table, not that we were expecting table by the way, we stayed all night at the bar and we got the best service ever!
Gregorio and his colleagues are "la ostia" House wine, as usual in Spain, is delicioso! The calmares fritos and pescaditos were my favourites, maybe I wasnt impressed with the pan con tamate, but after the boquerones en vinagre, olivas, it didnt bother me at all.
Once again I want to say Gregorio, or as his colleagues called him "el calvito" was the star of the evening, we promised him to return and say hello next time we visit Palma.
If you dont mind waiting, and you are 100% sure you want to blend into the typical Spanish atmosphere, go to La Boveda.

We have stayed in Palma for many years and have always thought we must go to this restaurant as it looks so busy and always people waiting for a table. We got our hotel (Hotel Cort) to book a table for us at 9.30pm we arrived and tried to attract the attention of any of the waiters rushing past after 20 mins we did manage to let them know we had been there some time and we were more than ready to sit down . We waited another 15 mins before that happened we were ready to walk out but we persevered hoping that the food would reward us well.
How wrong we were , revolting tuna in a tomato sauce was bland the tuna was dry and we left it after a few mouthfuls surely the Spanish omelette would fair better !!! Sadly not it was the worst l have ever tasted so that was left.We thought they could not go wrong with bread, tomato and olives but yes you have guessed the bread so dry l could not swallow it and the red stuff that was smeared on the top could never in a million years pass as tomato, the olives were fine so one out of three a better result .The ham was good and tasty but not hard to produce. The prawns in garlic were again the worst l have tried in many a year but by this stage we were so hungry we did finish those.
The place is buzzing so they must have something right but after eating in Palma over a fifteen year span this really was the most revolting that l have had placed in front of me ,are we fussy well l don't think so ,we just enjoy well produced food at all different levels and prices. My advice is go for a drink and soak up the atmosphere but DON'T eat there.

Very crowded, in a nice way. Both locals and tourists, live music, excellent food! There was a bit of a wait, but nothing that really bothered us. Friendly staff.

We ate here 5 years ago while away without the children for the first time, so decided to return with our daughters (10 & 13).
We had to book as it gets busy, and arrived 30 mins late as we got a little lost, but despite our lateness and the fact the place was rammed, our table was still held.
We ordered a bottle of Faustino V (£18), and various tapas including steak. The food was absolutely perfect and the service very attentive despite how busy the place was.
We've booked again for a meal before we head home to Yorkshire and are really looking forward to it.
Fab value and highly recommended.
