Normally I’m a fan of modern design hotels and this one looks the part with a minimalist style with lots of light oak, but sadly so much of it doesn’t work.
There is virtually no carpeting or wall hangings anywhere in the lobby, corridors or rooms so the noise levels in the hotel aren’t deadened at all so, a bunch of girls coming home in their heels in the early hours sounds like the Normandy landings.
The outdoor bar only feet from the bedroom window is also not a good idea especially when it’s still open at 2 in the morning.
Fortunately only stayed 2 nights so should be able to catch up on missed sleep somewhere else
Room top bar and pool sounds great but the high winds common place on Majorca make it more something to be endured than enjoyed
Add to that that taps and bathroom fittings that are more about look than practicality and it all adds up to a really poorly designed hotel
Good location though

Very modern hotel with nice comfortable rooms. Clean and high standard. Liked the pool area on the roof and with the bar serving food and drinks with good quality. Good choice of breakfast served in a convenient area. Near the beach and bonus that you get towels from the hotel.

We just wanted a good bed near the airport as we were arriving late and then heading elsewhere on the island the following day. This fitted the bill.
The room (at the back so no sea view) was clean, neat and tidy and had everything we needed for 1 night. The room at the back overlooked the town, but if laying on the bed with the blinds just open you could just see a skyline and the mountains which was lovely.
The shower/bathroom was through a glass screen into the bedroom (which could be covered using an electric blind) and everything such as the window blinds were on electric controls. All fine but a challenge when you arrive at 2am in the morning! We definitely struggled getting the air-conditioning to not blow out 27degree air!
Overall, the room felt very corporate and would not have suited us if we were staying for more than one night, but was fine for what we wanted.

Room tip: You can pay more for rooms on "The Level" or with sea views which due to the location probably offer a great view.

We are today wrapping up a one week stay here . The hotel is clean and modern and the staff are all extremely friendly, helpful, and professional,
The breakfast buffet is plentiful and offers a wide selection of choices.
The hotel location is convenient to the historic center by either walking or taxi and we ate most nights at the charming restaurants to be found in Portillo the little fishing village less than a 10 minute walk away.
I do want to comment about 2 important things I did find lacking at the Amelia:
1.) The internet access was only on an unsecured basis although we were assured it was secure in fact it was not, so be aware !
2.) The walk-in shower floor surface was smooth porcelain and incredibly slippery . There should be some type of protective floor mat , we found it VERY dangerous and could just imagine elderly guests taking a slip and fall breaking a hip !

Room tip: Ask for a higher level floor and a room in the back
