I stayed 5 nights in this hotel.
it is central and this is good and have a good restaurant. Limited choice but well prepared and tasty.
Unfortunately badly managed since open when personnel wants.
Small room and not adequate. Only one lift for ten floors. Long waiting time and not synchronised.
Personnel at the reception not helpful and slow, maybe due to not suitable software at the reception.
No value for the price paid.

we comment that this could be ugliest building in central Vitoria but it's really nice and friendly hotel, price was 60 eur per night for 2, location is just perfect for both train and bus station, clean and on NH standard delivery

Hello community,
I was in this hotel for 2 nights and felt well from the beginning on. Very friendly staff, all clean, nice room with all I need and more. Good beds, good windows. I did not check the speed of the wifi. Very well situated, near to the station and the historical center. Price under 90EUR/night very rich breakfast included.
It was a very pleasant stay

The Canciller Ayala Vitoria is a large hotel which accommodates bus tours. Several were staying the night we were there, but that was not intrusive to us. The hotel is across from a beautiful park and close to the old town. The room was comfortable and the bath modern. The wifi worked great and the underground parking, for which there is a fee, is secure. The staff was very professional and helpful. The room looked out onto a lovely tree-lined promenade. Noise was not a problem – on the street or in the neighboring rooms. There was a baby in the room next to us, which we did not realize until we stepped into the hall and heard the baby crying. The old town is very close and there are lots of restaurants nearby. The train station is also close. If staying in Vitoria, the Canciller Ayala Vitoria is a nice, convenient hotel.

The hotel location is excellent but if you are driving, be warned that the car park is a bit of a nightmare with little logic applied to the marking out of some of the parking bays.
We booked a top floor suite, with view across the city. The view was fantastic and there was mainly plenty of space but it wasn't without its problems. Sound insulation was generally very poor but the main problem we had was noise from one of the elevators which was clearly in need of major overhaul, banging and whining 24 hours/day. We stayed for three nights and after the first night, we reported the problem to the front desk where the receptionist took a note of it with a promise to pass it on to the appropriate person. The second night saw no improvement so on the following morning we insisted upon speaking to the duty manager who acknowledged the problem, stating that the lift was to be replaced later in the year - this just added insult to injury; the hotel knew that there was a problem but was still happy to take bookings for the affected rooms. To be fair, the manager did promise to take the lift out of service during that night and it didn't operate between 11.15pm and around 6.30am the following morning. It wasn't perfect but it was at least a bit better.
Although the suite was a decent size, the bathroom wasn't and probably had the worst layout I have ever seen in an hotel. The bidet and WC were directly opposite each other leaving a gap of less than half a metre to squeeze through to the bath and even then, the shower screen had to be moved in order to climb into it which meant that after a shower, the screen had to pushed out thus soaking everything in its way. Are bidets really that essential nowadays?
After a long day's sightseeing, we decided to take the easy option and eat in the hotel restaurant, having had a look at the in-room dining menu. Having made our way down to the restaurant, we were astonished to find that there was no a la carte menu, it was the menu of the day or nothing. The very helpful waitress told us we could get something in the cafe outside but it was a very poor reflection of the room service menu. I don't think I have ever been in an hotel where room service had a better choice of food than the main restaurant.
The hotel seems to focus on tour groups which might explain why only the menu of the day was available and that focus resulted in a very poor choice of breakfast items on our last morning. We went for breakfast about 8.30am to find that most of the breakfast buffet was stripped bare. It seems that at least one tour group had been in before us which meant there was very little left for other guests. Over the next 40 minutes or so, many of the missing items were replaced but too late for us, since we had to leave the hotel to drive to our next destination.
In summary, not as good as it thinks it is and whilst tour groups might fill rooms, it does deter other guests and I am not sure I would stay in an NH hotel again.

Dear Suarta:

I would like to thank you for your review and for sharing your experience.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the service received. I would like to assure you that this incident does not meet our quality standards and we will immediately focus on improvement.

I am not sure if we explained you perfectly our options, of course you can enjoy our room service menu, we have our snack menu in the bar and we have our menu in the restaurant which has five courses to choice first plate, five main plate and five desserts. I am very sorry if our offer was not varied enough.

Kind regards,

Gema Guillerna
