Tried 5 different pintos and 4 was great...but the lam kebab over soup... was desapoiinting.
The first one that I got was raw and cold in the midle.. but when I told the waiter I gor a new one... but the taste of the first one still was in my mouth... The kebab was deepfried and not marinaded, so nothing special.
Try there egg yolk pintos that was special.

The Pintxo at Sagartoki are best described as culinary art. There is a great selection of unusual twists on the standard pintxo. The challenge is to decide whether to order the same dish again, or try something different. In our case we found the pintxo of such quality, that we unknowingly worked our way through the entire menu trying everything we could. No disappointments. The wine selection and quality mirrors the quality of the Pintxo. Sagartoki is well worth a visit when you are in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

I had seen Senen Gonzalez on Annie Sibonney's TV series "From Spain With Love" and had been really impressed by his creativity and technical artistry. Compared to famous gastro-magnets like Barcelona, Madrid and San Sebastian, Vitoria-Gasteiz is only a small dot on most tourist maps. As I researched more, I realized that this was definitely worth a stop for both the food and the cultural, historic and architectural gems.

The chef was in the midst of a video recording when we arrived so we got to see him and his famous tortilla right away. It was worth the bus trip from San Sebastian. Creamy, with potato and onion, there was a slight hint of the asador flavour, which is the signature of his tortilla. Unlike regular tortillas, he prepares his over the coal grill, imparting a touch of smoke.

As mentioned by previous diners, the deep fried egg yolk in potato wrapper was delicious fun. Make sure to pop the whole thing in your mouth. Do not nibble or you'll literally have egg in your face!

The secret to getting your orders placed at this busy bar is to beg a friendly local friend to join you. We were lucky enough to have Aitor D with us. Eskerrik asko, Aitor! :-)

When you get to Sagartoki the incredible crowd obviously indicates food must be good. After working your way hard to the bar, you're presented with what looks like a small list of available pintxos. It's only when you try them that you fully appreciate the taste explosion and the quality of them! They have a nice offer of 4 pintxos + postres + wine which gives the possibiity to expereince a few different kinds. My favourite ones: foie gras with red dried fruit, crisp hot egg and potato custard, parmesan cheese croquette. One last thing: this is not a place to go to if you're hungry...

it's hard work getting served at the bar, but it's worth it. The prize-winning pintxos at Sagartoki are magnificent. Try them all. Skip the restaurant, the food is only OK, the service is mediocre and the prices much too high.
