We loved staying here. The service is top-notch, friendly & helpful. The rooms are comfortable, with nice bathrooms & comfortable beds. It's about a 30 minute walk to the old town, and 15 minutes to the beach, but they have bikes you can use (San Sebastian is VERY bike friendly with bike paths throughout the city). Make sure you reserve one of the bikes, as they get booked quickly. The hotel itself is in a beautiful old mansion, with elegant sitting rooms & lounges throughout.

Villa Soro needs no bells or whistles.... it is quietly confident in all that it offers. Superbly maintained, both inside and out. All of the staff are are attentive to guest needs. The location is only a short walk from the beach and a little longer to the old town. Attention to detail, comfort and pure hospitality are the cornerstones of this establishment. Would return without hesitation.

We really enjoyed staying here. We even liked the fact that it's not in the noisy, crowded center of the city, and it was only a 15-20 minute walk to the center. If you're used to walking cities, this is still a great location. And, best pintxo places are right nearby. It definitely was expensive but we were there during a holiday week so all the nice hotels were pricey. Also, it seems as if San Sebastian has limited options for nice, small hotels.

Room was very pretty, quiet, and nicely furnished. Staff was nice and helpful, though knowledge about outskirts was somewhat limited. (ie they didn't recommended going to a cider house in august, but we had a really great time and would highly recommend it! and, they didn't give us driving directions there, and the place was very hard to find, had to stop twice for directions)

Overall, a really nice hotel, and one of our favorites from trip to northern spain.

This is just a perfect small hotel in San Sebastian, away from the bustle of town, but only a 15 minute walk from everything. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Villa Soro is an elegant little hotel in a nice part of San Sebastian. The old villa has been lovely renovated and a new building added in the back. We had breakfast on the terrace when the weather was nice, and here we also had coffee or a glass of wine in the afternoons. The staff was very helpful. Villa Soro is a 10 min walk from the beach, and the hotel provided us with towels and water bottles. The 20 min walk to the old town is very pleasant if you walk along the beach. There are many people around and it is fun to see the surfers in the evenings. And the food is so good in this city that it is a nececcity to do some walking.

We stayed here for three nights . Aug 2-5 2008.

20 min walk from old town.

Its sited on a busy road. We had a room in the annex which was quiet...otherwise might be noisy.
The staff were excellent in arranging restaurants, The room was very good --the free soft drinks from the mini bar was a nice touch.

There are six bikes available for guests . Book early to avoid disappointment!!(we had no difficulty )

The breakfasts were good. All in all couldn't fault it.

We stayed for 3 nights in July 2008. The hotel is lovely and deffinately a 4*, but it does have some downsides. It's about a 10 min walk to the Gros area of San Sebastian and 20 mins to the old town. The hotel is situated on a fairly busy main rd, so those light sleepers may want to be at the back of the hotel.
On the plus side the bedrooms and bathrooms are very big and modern, with excellent facilities. There is free parking and the staff are very helpful.
You can get breakfast and snacks but there is no formal restaurant service, though there are nice touches like a formal reading room and DVDs for your room.
