Alfonso was our guide for this pintxos tour. There were four of us, and it was a wonderful way to start our trip to San Sebastian in order to get a feel for the area and where and what to order. I really think that you can't go wrong taking any of these types of tours, but where I think this one stands out is that it is pay as you go. It is so flexible. You don't HAVE to have a drink, or if there is something that doesn't sound good you don't have to get it or you could get one to split instead of one each. Or if you are still hungry you can keep going! Alfonso was an excellent guide and we were all so pleased that we took this particular tour. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in exploring the pintxos of San Sebastian.

We got so much more out of the region and the food by doing this tour with our English speaking guide. Great fun!

My family and I (7 adults including my 89 year old grandmother) absolutely loved our custom Pintxo Tour in Donostia! Our guide, Clara, was fantastic and very accommodating for my family, especially my grandmother. The tour started with a brief walk through the Brexta marketplace and a discussion of the importance of food and pintxos in basque culture. We then made our way to four different pintxo bars and Clara made sure that we had places to sit and enjoy our food. The food and conversations with Clara can't be beat. Clara recommended excellent pintxos, our favorite was the "cod brick" from Bar Haizea and the octopus from the pintxo bar that had a view of the church in parte vieja. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience a great combination of traditional basque pintxo bars and modern restaurants. A big thank you to Clara for a memorable experience!

My wife and I and our 1-year-old twins are staying in San Sebastian for a month and we were a little overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of pintxos bars in the old town where we are staying so we decided to get some expert advice...

Our e-mail correspondence with San Sebastian Pintxos Tours was quick and efficient (and all in good English, which helps a lot) and we were able to book a tour within a few days of our initial contact.

Our guide was a fellow by the name of Borja, a lovely guy, born and bred in the area and as passionate about his food as we are. His english was excellent, and he took us to some terrific pintxos bars to enjoy their best dishes. We tried a couple pintxos from one place near La Brexta market that we would never have thought to go to, and they were truly exceptional.

There was no clock-watching. We were given an indicative duration of 2 to 2.5 hours but Borja seemed content to keep going until we were full! Unfortunately, for one guided session you can't possibly try all the culinary treasures that this wonderful city has to offer but we felt that it did equip us with enough knowledge to eat our way through the rest of the city...

Their fee structure represents exceptional value and I would recommend their services to any foodie visiting San Sebastian.

Our guide Maria's enthusiasm was infectious, her knowledge unquestionable and her choices spot-on. She selected a great mix of traditional pintxos bars frequented by locals as well as modern places doing impressive experimentation with food. She showed us which off-the-menu dishes each place specialized in so were able to try the best of the best. She avoided the tired or overpriced dishes geared towards tourists who didn't have the benefit of having a local guide at their side. And in between pintxos bars, she made a point of telling us about historically or architecturally interesting sites along the walk. The tour was excellent value, even considering that we did this as a private tour. Would recommend without reservation.
