“very cosy and convenient”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

I stayed in Pension Amaiur for 2 nights in July and it was a very pleasant experience.
The room with balcony and private bathroom was very cosy and convenient. I really loved to be awakening listening to the bell ringing from the church in the morning. The staff was also very helpful and kind. It doesn't have AC and there was some sand in the floor but it was okay for other good things. I would recommend this cosy pension for those who love the cobbled street and vibrant bars of San Sebastian!

We stayed in Pension Amaiur only for one night, in the month of July, in a room with private bathroom and a balcony facing the noisy calle 31 de Agosto... but, despite that, our rest has been perfect! Friendly welcoming, good tips about bars and pintxos, cosy atmosphere, cleanliness and a common little kitchen where having a coffee or tea. Excellent alternative to anonymous hotels.

Well, there probably isn't a bad location here, but this was indeed perfect. Impeccably clean, service with a smile, reasonably priced. One drawback is no elevator. If you have heavy bags, the steps up can be daunting, other than that, a great little place. Eric was a most simpatico host!

Amaiur is in the Best location in this awesome city, the building is the oldest one in San Sebastian but the interiors are totally renovated so it` vintage not old-fashioned.The staff is great, especially Eric,he is so nice and hilarious, he give us the best recomendations for ¨pintxos¨ and talk with us and responding to all our questions.

We stayed in the room number 3, with balkony and bathroom inside the room, lovely!

Definetly we come back!!

Room Tip: the room number 3 and 10 are the best

...right in the centre of town. I managed to find my way back there despite spending to much time in the bars! Everything is quite basic, no little extras - even a shared bathroom. However it is fine and perfect for exploring the town.
The staff were fine, but could have been a bit friendlier or helpful, especially as I was travelling alone.
I loved having my little balcony overlooking the busy street.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pension Amaiur. Our hosts were helpful and welcoming and we found the location to be delightful in every respect. Great restaurants very nearby and easy walking to beach, shops and sights.

A hostel that is more like a very nice B&B. located in the heart of the old town, ideal for sampling the pintxos, visiting the beach or exploring the city. It's the best location you can get in San Seb. The staff are lovely and extremely helpful. The staff helped me with where to go, what to eat, what to see, maps etc, couldn't ask for more. The rooms are clean, tidy, nicely decorated and comfortable. There is no need for any fancy hotel when you can stay in this lovely place.
