This is a really well run budget hotel, as other reviewers have noted the staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. We received a much more personal service than we would normally get in larger and grander establishments.
The breakfast were good, much better than the those we have had in similar hotels in France, and quite reasonably priced.
The only negative comment we would make is that our bathroom, and in particular the bath, in room 105 really needs updating, however we thoroughly recommend the Hotel Record and we would certainly stat there again.

Room Tip: Try and get a balcony room on the first floor.

Conveniently located near the surfing beach and a 10-15 minute walk to the old town along the beach.

A friend and I stayed in a twin room, which was very clean. We were very well looked after and given plenty of recommendations for pintxos. Breakfast is fairly basic but fine.

Nothing flash but the service more than makes up for it. They are more than happy to help with any issues you have in San Sebastian. They speak good English and are available 24/7. It's about 25 mins walk from the old town though still a bit loud in the early hours. The breakfasts are hearty and familiar. 1 minute from the surf beach. Overall it's small but homely and I would book again if I came back.

I loved the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, and also the homely feel of the hotel. They were generous with their time in helping us get oriented, giving us recommendations for tapas places, calling taxis etc.

There is a pleasant dining room where they serve breakfast. One morning, we didn't want a full fledged breakfast and we were going to go out for coffee, the lady at the reception insisted that she made the best coffee in the area. Even though they don't really have room service, she brought it up to our room so that we could enjoy it on the balcony. That kind of personalized service is hard to find at bigger hotels.

Rooms were basic but very clean and housekeeping was attentive. Sure, it was expensive, but that is more a function of the city I suppose, than anything else. San Sebastian is not an easy budget destination.

By the way, the walls are thin, so there can be noise but we weren't bothered. We probably had good neighbors I suppose.

This hotel is in Gros, but it is an easy walk to old town along the beach, something we did about twice. The area of Gros itself has a lot of public squares where there are fun activities on the weekends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

Lovely little hotel. Close to the beach (5 min to the nearest one), 10 min walk into the old part of town (the walk takes you past the sea front so as walks goes it pretty nice) and friendly staff who go out of their way to help.
Breakfast is definitely worth the price and again staff are super.

Rooms are clean and spacious and we had a lovely balcony to spend the evening in.

This was our last stop of our 2 week European driving holiday before getting the ferry from Santander to sunny England! I wouldn’t normally stay 2* but I was put off by the ridiculous car parking charges that hotels in San Sebastian charge! As it turned out this place fine for our one night stay and we really liked San Sebastian.

We arrived slightly early but allowed to check in. Parking was easy. We had a ground floor room which was basic but fine. As others have said the soundproofing is rubbish but this didn’t really affect us too much. The wifi was free which was a bonus and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was good value at 4 euros.

The girl at reception was exceptionally helpful when helping us with our choices of pintxo restaurants which we really enjoyed. It’s amazing how quickly they fill you up!

Walk to beach was 10 minutes and then another 10 min into the centre. San Sebastian is a lovely place with lots of character... as is Hotel Record!

This is a nice ,budget choice. It's a genuine 2 star with everything you'd expect for that rating. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room clean and comfortable and an adequate size for a 1 or 2 night stay.Try to get a room with a balcony,we did and it was just a nice little extra touch though I think rooms with balconies are in short supply.
The bathroom was small but not too small.Towels and basic toiletries were provided..
Two concerns I have ,though it didn't personally bother me ,was ,first the lack of A/C in high summer. The room could get hot then and to open a window is not a great option with the road so close because that could be noisy.Secondly, the walls are very thin.Brushing my teeth in our bathroom I could hear a graphic account from the couple in the next room demonstrating their mutual fondness for each other after what was no doubt a romantic evening!.I found it quite amusing but not everyone is perhaps so worldly so just a note of caution there.
There's off road parking that's first come first served but it's no extra charge.Parking isn't secure but at least it's not on the road.
The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes. To the harbour and the main tourist type shops about 20 minutes but since much of the walk is on the promenade it's fine.
I'd stay again with no hesitation--except perhaps in the hottest months because of the A/C
