“Spacious but not close to beach”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

Love the spaciousness of rooms -- give it a 5 for that. Wonderful breakfast buffet -- another 5. Right next to a busy noisy road -- give it a 2 for that. Long walk to the beach -- another 2. Grocery store less than a block away -- a 5. But prices are high in San Sebastián so this could be a good choice. Definitely NOT a bad choice.

Room Tip: Enjoy the balcony !

Needed to contact the hotel to book a parking space - very good communication, prompt replies to my requests. On arrival greeted by welcoming lady receptionist - had to drop off bags and park the car about 200 metres away, although the hotel is on a one way system so found it a little tricky the first time.
Had requested a room on a high floor which we had on the 6th floor. Good three star hotel, rooms had everything we needed but are quite basic but there again this is a reasonably priced hotel for San Sebastian.
The cafe attatched is a great option for breakfast or a quick snack - the staff here are very helpful and friendly - we also had a night cap here on one of our evenings - it does close at 11pm though.
It's just a couple of blocks from the beach and a lovely stroll into the old part of San Sebastian along the promenade. This is a great city - has something to offer for everyone.
Parking can be a problem in the city and so this was a big plus for this hotel.
If we were ever in San Sebastian again we would definately consider the Codina.

Room was very comfortable--large bed, refrigerator, safe, towel warmer!, great shower, very clean. The cafe downstairs had great coffee and croisants at reasonable prices, and friendly efficient service. The room was rather expensive ($120 for double) and they charged $18 a night to park our car in a garage with limited space. Location some distance from old city with its tapas bars, etc. Several blocks from the beach.

Spacious room and bathroom, standard decoration, quite clean but with owful matress. Moreover we were given a twin room although we had booked a double. To our surprise the receptionist informed us that in this hotel they say double but they mean both!!! It was the first time I have heard that. THey could have just appologized that they did not notice that we had booked a double.

We arrived in San Sebastian having been travelling through France and Spain with our dog and stopped at a five star hotel who it turned out only took "handbag" dogs, i.e. tiny ones but they recommended us to the Hotel Codina. Although it was only three star the room was large, clean and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and the added bonus was their secure car park. It is a ten minute walk to the beach and further to the town but that just added to the magic that was San Sebastian. We were there on a Sunday morning and the beach was full of children playing football on the beach with goal netting etc. It was a joy to watch them all having such fun. There are some excellent restaurants and bars in the back roads around the hotel if you did not want to go into town. All in all one of the best stays in Spain on our holiday. Staff very helpful and efficient and although their cafe/bar was not too grand, it was perfect for an early drink and a piece of very good tortilla. Would definitely return there if we were in San Sebastian again - which we intend to do.

Basic 3 star hotel, well out of the main tourist part of San Sebastian, but with a good bus connection. The rooms are very basic, and there are no lounge or other common areas to relax in apart from the little cafe next door. And yes, they do serve tinned fruit cocktail at breakfast! The staff were friendly, but I had trouble checking into my room (first the room I was given hadn't been made up, then the key to the next room I was given didn't work, which meant several trips along corridors and up and down in the lift towing my luggage because there are no porters). Like I said, this is a basic 3 star hotel

Room Tip: The hotel is on a busy road. My room, 505, was very noisy, despite double glazing.

This hotel has underground connected secure parking and excepts dogs, great if you are traveling with pets by car. It has a little cafe connected to it but no real room service but you shouldn't be eating in your room when the city has so many wonderful Pintxos bars. The Codina is a short walk from the lovely concha beach and the main part of town, bring comfy shoes as everyone takes a stroll along the long promenade. The rooms are modern and of fairly clean and simple. It is a great location and fairly inexpensive.
