We were in the annexe which are 4 rooms in another building. Very clean, nice room, great location in the city and a really great bed. Slightly thin walls but I think that the snorer next door was particularly powerful. Very nice staff too. For under 50€ for a double it was very good value.

We stumbled into San Sebastian without a room reservation in high season and were very worried we wouldn't find anything. As luck would have it - the first place we came upon was La Perla. We were so impressed by the cleanliness, the location and the price of this lovely pension. The proprietor was friendly and very patient with our rudimentary Spanish. We would definitely stay there again.

Just a little tip - I think we were able to get a room because we arrived mid-week around the same time big festivals were going on in Pamplona and Bayonne. If we'd arrived on the weekend, I don't think we'd have gotten a room so easily.

My husband and I stayed in the Pension La Perla for a week whilst visiting San Sebastion. It was fantastic value for money, very clean and in a great location. We would definately recommend it.

I have now stayed at the La Perla twice, and it would be more, but it is very hard to get a room. You must book many months in advance, for obvious reasons.

The rooms are comfortable, stylish, quiet, with excellent baths. They are small, but not cramped at all, and the price is very low. This place is really a bargain.

The location, down a nice pedestrian street, that runs from the cathedral to the old city, is perfect. You are about a 10-15 minute walk to the train station, and a 10 minute walk to the beach or old city. I think the area is much nicer than staying in the old city itself. The Cathedral square (1 minute walk) is beautiful. You are also about a 15-20 minute walk to the FEVE station, in a different direction, but also a nice area to explore. It's convenient for everything.

The big problem is booking way in advance (4 months or more). I stayed in the Urkia once, and it is an excellent alternative. However, I found the Donostiarra to be very poor.

This is an outstanding value if you can get a room.
