“Very nice in San Sebastian”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stayed here for two nights with our children (7&8) and enjoyed every minute! We had a room with a view over the beach, ocean and the lovely promenade and old town. Everything about this place is comfortable, the room, the bed, the view, the food and staff - it was a pleasure! Breakfast is not included, but the one we got in the restaurant was great and very good coffee too. Our car was parked and delivered in just minutes. Room was clean and nice. Everything is within walking distance, and getting to the beach is just to step outside. San Sebastian is a great place to enjoy life, we felt at home immediately.

Room Tip: Be sure to book a room with seaview!

This Hotel is so quaint & the Location is fantastic!! Breakfast is not included. We did have breakfast in the hotel. It was very good. The staff were very attentive. The views from the restaurant were fantastic! We called for Ice,within minutes. We had a full bucket of Ice. The front desk went above & beyond with any reservations we needed help with, from making a Dinner reservation to calling a taxi cab for us.I will definitley rebook when we visit San sebastian again

This is a grand old hotel with many or most rooms facing a stunning view of the bay and ocean. The rooms are medium in size, updated to be functional and stylish. Worth springing for the slightly higher rate to get a view of the bay, it's really gorgeous. The lobby is a little small, and the elevators sometimes slow and a little creaky. Location couldn't be better for the beach right outside the bar/restaurant/lobby, plus it's a short walking distance to the old city areas with some of the best restaurants and pinxto bars in the world. This is no exaggeration. A beautiful spot.

Room Tip: Get a room with the bay view. You won't regret it.

What a fantastic location. Rooms are huge and well appointed, besides no kettle for a cuppa. Room service very good. Very overpriced for eating at restaurant and getting laundry done! Staff really nice, but don't answer the phone very quickly.

The Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra offered a wonderful opportunity to stay beach-side on Bahia de La Concha in San Sebastian. The property overlooks the sunny, family friendly beach and is steps away from the Parte Vieja and Centro San Sebastian. The property is in the grand old style of many beachfront European hotels and has been updated with comfortable furnishings, a spacious air conditioned bar with views of the beach, and antique prints and muted colors in the lobby and hallways that emphasize the long history of this prominent hotel.

Our room was on the 7th floor and had a spectacular view of the beach below with a wide and very private sun deck with chaises and chairs. The room had a gigantic bathroom with a walk-in shower and a generous and comfortable king bed with well maintained antique chairs, and desk, and a sufficient closet. The room, in keeping with the entire hotel, was squeaky clean, well appointed, quiet, and with sufficient air conditioning that was necessary during the heat of the day. Wifi was solid. In short, we loved the room that offered a panorama of the daily beach scene below.

Our dilemma was that, despite the rich history of the place, the Hotel Londres is a "touristic" hotel that operates at full booking in the summer season. Lots and lots of people with the attendant frenzy at times in the lobby during prime check-in and check-out hours. As in other reviews, service suffered as a result. The front desk staff was perfunctory but not engaging or overly welcoming. Service in the bar at times was erratic with orders being confused; either we did not get our order or we got 'two' of our order. Room refresh / turn down one night was forgotten with the management's apology.

The hotel is rated at four stars and we concur. We enjoyed our time here - it's a great place for 'close to everything' in San Sebastian - but the tourist flux, as well as rather impersonal and, at times, overwhelmed service detracted from our stay.

Room Tip: Have a drink and the comfortable bar; a higher floor room overlooking the beach is a treat.

The hotel is perfectly situated overlooking the beach and close to the old town. Small balcony was great to listen to the water as we slept. The room was small but fine, but the king bed was actually 2 uncomfortable twin beds pushed together. Sheets were not soft. The staff was unfriendly and irritable when we asked questions about things. The concierge was nice but nothing special. If it weren't for the location I would strongly not recommend it. That's the only redeeming quality. They charged for everything without telling you until the end- including beach towels. For the price, very disappointing.

The Hotel de Londres is right on La Concha beach and could not be bettered in San Sebastián for location.

We had a sea view room on the 3rd floor which was big enough for a queen bed, desk and two chairs and a coffee table. The view was special, right along the beach and out to the ocean. The bathroom was a good size with a lovely shower. The room was quiet, which was much more than we could say for the apartments we left in disgust to move to the hotel.

A few reviewers have mentioned the staff are not friendly but we found them to be pretty good and certainly helpful when we needed it.

Expensive but worth it for a special occasion (or when like us you had little choice).

Room Tip: The sea view is special.
