“Honeymoon Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

We were in this hotel for two nights during our honeymoon trip to Spain. The view gets this place five stars plus - then one must subtract from there. The view is soooo, sooooo good. The sunrises and sunsets especially - other worldly. Best view I have ever had from a hotel, especially for the price - which isn't cheap but definitely fair for the view alone.

Some issues: Breakfast is nasty - downright nasty - and extremely overpriced. Do NOT get breakfast at the hotel. The wireless is quite spotty, and did not work most of the time - especially if my husband and I were trying to use it at the same time. You also have to log in each time you try to join the network, and the log-in screen does not work properly. The lights on each balcony are controlled by the hotel, not with an on/off switch in the room, and are not turned off until after midnight. They attract large bugs and make it a little hard to sit out at night.

We found the staff quite friendly. Perhaps it's a new staff, given the past reviews, but everyone we met with was pleasant, patient, and efficient.

Yes, it's hard to get to and from but that's an issue that's pretty apparent to the guest before booking so no subtracting points for that. You can walk from the hotel to town along the beautiful coastline in about 20-30 mins. I would not suggest walking back up. We walked down each time, and took a cab back up.

I would recommend. But proceed with caution.

Room Tip: All you should expect is the view, but the view is worth it. DO NOT GET THE BREAKFAST!

Stayed here for a couple of nights and were most impressed. The setting is stunning and difficult to beat. Warm welcome at reception and we found the staff extremely helpful. Parking was not a problem but a cab to town is only about 10€ so on most occasions we took the funicular down to the beach and walked into town (about 30-40 minute walk) and returned back by taxi. Although there were obviously loads of other hotels in town, we would rather stay at the Mercure for the unique view and peaceful setting. Breakfast was buffet style with a reasonable choice. The hotel was relatively quiet which we were quite pleased about!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the bay.

Fabolous stay in the Easter holidays, sunny days to enjoy the terrace room.
Great service, good food in both the hotel and the city.
Also enjoyed with the children in the park.
Finally, recommend a hotel with great views.

One of the best views .... Rooms are okay.. Breakfast not so good... Friendly staff... Need a car or taxi to reach or commute from the hotel. Not so expensive. Worth a stay atleast once due to the location view of the ocean..............................

This hotel has one of the best views we have ever had. Overlooking the bay, you get panoramic views of the city, as well as the open ocean. Try to get the privilege room, money worth spent.

The room is quite simple, with all basic amenities, very clean, expect for the fact that we had to ask to change our glasses twice because they were dirty. Also the bathroom needs an update, as for a privilege room and price point, it should be modernized.

You definitely need a car as it is quite a distant and you cant rely to the funicular as it runs on a limited time schedule, at least this season.

Staff are friendly, keen to help with any questions, sometimes not at the main desk though so we had to look for them. We would definitely come back, even just for the views

Room Tip: try to get a privilege room with views to the ocean and the city
