Description: The Biarritz Restaurant, located on the seafront of San Sebastian, looking out over the Concha Bay, produces traditional cuisine with a modern touch, where you will find strong connections to its roots, the Bay of Biscay and Basque gastronomy, alongside traditional recipes of long-standing pedigree, all with the common denominator of simplicity and respect for the product The bar stands right on the Concha promenade and is the perfect place to enjoy a large selection of pintxos and plates more informally, in an unbeatable setting and with marvellous views of the San Sebastian bay. In summer, we also have a pleasant outdoor terrace on the promenade

We had a lovely meal (from the menu-of-the-day options) and thoroughly enjoyed the rice with squid ink, clams, mussels, and hake cheeks; tuna tartar; and grilled hake with onions. The server recommended a beautiful bottle of vino blanco that complemented our food quite nicely. Desserts were lighter than expected (butter brioche with coffee ice cream and cheese cream on a bed of crumbles). It's important to know that this restaurant is in the basement level of a hotel. The bar upstairs has large windows overlooking the water... if you are looking for dinner with a view this isn't your place. If you're looking for good food, a nice dining room, attentive service, and fair prices -- I recommend Narru without hesitation.

It is beyond me, how this restaurant has such good reviews. Be prepared: the restaurant is under ground. Basement. No view, no fresh air. Expect to be seated in a canteen style setting - wooden scrambling chairs and little to no service (wet coats hanging on our chairs). There may be an olive oil shortage since we were served two drops each for our bread. Main courses overpriced and not particularly interesting - 20-30 EUR for your protein, no sides offered or even possible. No salad, no potatoes, no pasta, nothing. Total cost for 4 people, two not drinking alcohol, only two courses (in fact, only 3x2 courses and one main) set us back a whopping 170 EUR. I would argue you are much better off going for pinxtos and a glass somewhere in city centre - for a third of that price.

Any discerning gourmet should stay away from Narru restaurant in San Sebastian. Today’s experience (October 2nd, 2018) was a disaster for any discerning lover of fine cuisine. Very bad service as well: personnel even disputes that they brought the dishes either cold, or lukewarm. If you even question the temperature of recently served dishes, they will reluctantly take them back. Yet, once they serve your plate again, it will either have been microwaved, or put under the broil. The result is: your cod will be chewy instead of fkaky, your mushroom raviolis will be crispy, instead of smooth. If you confront the staff, they would not apologize, or acknowledge wrongdoing, but become defensive and question your own judgement. Then, following the first episode, if you get your main course lukewarm, there it is. Add to that that the salsa verde is insipid and the hake is overcooked, you walk away. Cost of this farce: €100 for a failed dinner for 2! AVOID AT ALL COST. Please also note that it is a challenge to find a good restaurant open off season in San Sebastián either on a Monday, or a Tuesday.

This restaurant offers a menu of great value. I have been there for dinner, the menu has many options with water, coffee and half a bottle of wine included per person, for 35 euros. The fish of the day (hake) was perfectly cooked. The rice with squid, hake cheek, prawns was very good. The melon soup dessert is excellent. This is an excellent value for the price, maybe not a the highest gastronomy level, but still very high level.

We revisited Narru after two years for a Sunday lunch and it was a very pleasant experience. The last time we were in Narru the service was quite rushed. This time it was much more laid back. The food was very good.
